US Airways Flight Attendants to Announce Initial
List of Strike Cities; Press Conference at Pittsburgh
Airport on Friday, March 10, 10 AM

PITTSBURGH, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- US Airways flight attendants will release an initial list of city pairings and routes that
will be targeted for random, unannounced strikes at a press conference at the Pittsburgh Airport on Friday, March 10 at 10
a.m. The earliest that CHAOS(TM) actions could occur at US Airways is 12:01 a.m. on March 25, if a contract agreement
isn't reached prior to the deadline.

``If we are forced to create CHAOS at US Airways, we want to minimize the inconvenience passengers will suffer,'' said Lynn
Lenosky, AFA Master Executive Council President for US Airways. ``Our fight isn't with our passengers. It is US Airways
management that's brought us to the brink of a strike.''

CHAOS(TM) (Create Havoc Around Our System), first used at Alaska Airlines, is a strike action that can take many forms.
Flight attendants may stage a mass walkout for a day or a week or strike individual flights with no warning. Flight attendants will
target primarily those flights that are matched by US Airways' competitors, giving passengers alternatives.

US Airways has threatened to shut down the entire airline if there is no new contract with flight attendants by March 25.

What luck -- I'm leaving Pittsburgh tonight. Oh well, get to hear it on the news like everyone else.

I guess this means the FA's aren't taking US's threat of shutting down the entire airline seriously? If they really believe the airline was going to shutdown, this entire exercise would be pointless.

BTW, I was just looking at the FA's site, and they have posted the list of affected city-pairs:

Looks like they're taking down the whole MetroJet system along with any coast to coast flights.

Hope Southwest is ready for the increase in business!

They'd better be careful. If history is any guide, they should look back at Eastern, Continental, and especialy TWA. Current law permits the hiring of permanent replacement workers.
