I'm sure that's not what Gargoyle meant. I think Gargoyle meant if you place a 6 on top of a 9, with the two circles created, it can look like an 8 - and that's why it was a fun number.

Here might be three different ways of getting color wrapped up for maximum performance in your 6969-ness:
And, some might also be getting horn-y - which frequently happens in 6969...
