CO7 diverted to Yokota Air Force Base

The 3/10 CO7 IAH-NRT was diverted to Yokota Air Force Base due to the earthquake. Interesting choice of alternate. Yokota is a U.S. Air Force base, still in the Tokyo metro area, and it is curious that they could determine it to be safe quite so soon after the quake hit.

I wonder if they will process the passengers and allow to deplane there, or force them to stay on board/base until they can reposition the aircraft to a proper civilian airport.

Good choice as the flight was from the US, so they can just deplane and stay at the secured AFB in relative comfort for a while without having to deal with immigration/customs issues.

CO9 arrived NRT at 2:30p, 16 minutes before the quake hits. This should be the only CO aircraft on the ground at NRT.

I think the main issue in Tokyo right now is lack of electricity.

Edit: CO6 from GUM also diverting to OKO. 963/969 canceled. 927 GUM-KIX canceled. 975 GUM-NGO canceled.

Edit 2: Other GUM-Japan flights, including to SDJ, should have arrived in Japan late morning and on their way back to GUM, so no other CO aircraft on the ground in Japan.

Edit 3: A FTer was posting from his UA aircraft at OKO, seeing the CO 772 as well as aircraft of AA, KLM, etc:

Photos of various commercial aircraft at OKO. Including CO7 #78008 in "UNITED" livery arriving and on the tarmac - photos 4 and 5.

Unlikely. The 3/10 CO7 IAH-NRT, 772 #78008, has flown from Yokota AFB (OKO) to Nagoya Chubu Centrair Airport (NGO). Looks like the plan is to operate the 3/12 CO6 NRT-IAH with this aircraft, assuming NRT is reopened on 3/12.

The 3/11 CO6 GUM-NRT, 738 #14235, has also flown over to NGO.

In GUM now. Looks like CO's Japan flights are boarding, including GUM-NRT.

#017, the 772 that arrived from EWR just before the quake hit, will operate as CO1950 NRT-IAH at 1pm.
