Here we go again....let the speculation begin.
I personally think they should have chosen from inside...

I knew about this rumor for several weeks but could not post it here for obvious reasons.
Apparently Wall Street likes this news, as the stock of Delta Air Lines is currently up $1.06 per share to $17.14 per share.

Bad for those who "want to keep Delta my Delta." Bad for me because I'm short the stock and it will rise (at least temporarily) on this news due to merger speculation.
Gutsy move on the part of DAL's BOD, given how low in esteem the NWA crowd is held these days. I personally wouldn't want to have any association with anything "Northwest" at the moment. And it's completely beyond me why the guys who didn't want to do business with Doug Parker want to inject NWA's management style into DAL.

Interesting times for Delta; time will tell what this guy will good. DL seems to be in a good position now, so all he has to do is to continue to execute on the current business plan.

I can't believe they passed Whitehurst over. I was really hoping to see him in the job. What a shame to be losing him.
