Predictions on how many bloggers will cover the Andaz Maui resort fee?

I'm going to guess at least 7 BA bloggers today or this week... A good deal of them have provided trip reports there right?

It's kind of a big deal, I'd hope attention would be drawn to it.

Though I can't claim a 100% comprehensive review, I only see MommyPoints, OMAAT, and the Gate having mentioned the new resort fee so far.

Resort fees are as bad or worse than paying YQ on award tickets and it always stinks to see one added to a hotel that didn't used to have one. I actively avoid such properties unless there's no other choice for my destination.

While I'm no fan of resort fees, I find it hysterical how people, many of whom were "taught" how to squeeze every single penny out of a program by bloggers, are now up in arms about a) a resort fee b) an obvious IT error and c) the benefits being cut to the bone after being squeezed by all those freebie seekers.

No sooner had I posted above than I now see that VFTW has a post about it this afternoon, too.

A relatively minor change to the total cost for redemption at a single property in a chain of several hundred hotels is "kind of a big deal" to you?? Different priorities, I suppose, but I'm not buying that. Especially when it is not the only property to have such charges, so it is not an unprecedented move.

Or maybe I spend too much time looking at the big picture.

It was my understanding that Hyatt does not charge resort fees on award stays. How many of the bloggers and their readers are actually paying cash for this hotel?

All of the "suite or die" crowd. Cash or C&P, plus a DSU.

Ironically if the resort fee does include all of those activities, I'm actually inclined to go back now. Because im not paying it on a points stay. But this hotel has repeatedly shown disdain for M&P folks, and I'm fully expecting them to deny the resort fee benefits to those on award stays that aren't paying.

They haven't allowed P+C redemptions in nearly a year.

And I highly doubt they are allowed to single out redeemers like that. So if anything this is actually a huge benefit for point redeemers.
