DN bonus: 2500 points for lounge closure
FAQ:
T &C: During periods of high demand access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge may not be available; therefore Diamond members will receive 2,500 bonus points per stay plus daily complimentary full breakfast inclusive of one entre (or standard breakfast buffet), juice and coffee (tax, gratuity and service charges included) for each registered guest in the room, maximum four (4) people.
So.
1) Denied access to open club - full breakfast in restaurant + 2500 points.
2) Temporarily closed club - doesn't matter if its seasonal or day of the week (e.g. closed on weekends) - full breakfast in restaurant + 2500 points.
3) No club at property (or permanently closed club) - full Breakfast in restaurant, NO 2500 points.
It's not really a property discretion issue about the 2500 compensation points but Corporate CS will verify with the property that the RC/GC that is usually open was indeed closed on the date of the stay.
2500 points per stay, not night (including if you have a long stay covering 2 separate weekends)
If closed for any part of your stay, even with breakfast vouchers, you are eligible. e.g., if closes Sunday after breakfast and reopens Monday, guests staying on a Sunday night are eligible for the 2500 points.
Some properties are good about posting this (HR Schaumburg) while others (HR Milwaukee) are not. May require a call on the Diamond line
The bonus (in lieu of lounge access) is a Diamond benefit so you get it regardless of how you paid (points, cash&points, My Elite rate, corporate rate, Hotwire/Priceline,etc)
DISCLAIMER: The times (months, days, hours) of lounge closure may fluctuate. Please take what you find here and verify with the property if a closed (or open) RC/GC is important to you.

Is it 100% that you get the 2500 pt bonus for the Century City property RC being closed just for Sunday afternoon/evening??

Also, I know this is kind of greedy, but if you have a long stay (2 weeks) at the same property and the RC is closed more than once, would you get just the one 2500 pt bonus or could you ask for 2 bonuses??

2,500 Points one time only, regardless of the length of the stay.

I am not sure that the above sentence is accurate anymore.

This is some of the more current Hyatt language:

This policy seems to be worded in a way that is different than what the practice has been, as the points have been historically given for periods when there is little to no demand for the lounge at a given hotel and the hotel shuts down the lounge due to low demand and/or repairs.

This sounds more like if the hotel is packed they have the right to deny non-club level diamond guests access to the (very much still open) lounge and compensate you with points?

My experience has also been that points are awarded on request for lounges closed due to low demand / on weekends and occasionally for hotels with temp lounges while construction / renovations are going on.

Yes, that is how I read it too.

Same here, but the quote now being marketed by Hyatt about this matter seems to allow for a reduction/elimination in this benefit which you and I have benefited from historically. If the practice is now changed to exclude your mentioned scenarios, then this thread has become pointless other than to indicate that Hyatt has cut benefits for Diamond members and substituted it for a different benefit of lower value.

Let's see what GPC says about this.

2500 bonus points no more?

It seems to be true that this new language in T&C does mean end to this bonus. I just booked a stay at Greenwich Regency on a Friday night. When I asked the rep about 2500 point bonus due to the fact that it's during the time when the club lounge is not open, they said that I would not be getting it. As per the manager, it is only given if it is during an unforseen event like renovation or during times of high demand.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.4.2; SM-G900V Build/KOT49H) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/35.0.1916.141 Mobile Safari/537.36)

That's pretty unreasonable to me. If i book a hyatt REGENCY, i expect a REGENCY club. If you don't have it open on weekends, then i should be compensated 2500 points as a diamond. That's part of the brand for crying out loud. Telling me you can selectively choose to close it 1 or 2 or 6 days a week and then i get nothing is not reasonable. If i book a park hyatt, i don't expect a club. I book a grand or regency with one, i expect either access to the club for the benefits it offers (beyond breakfast, so just giving breakfast doesn't negate the reason for 2500 points).

Get in touch with Hyatt Gold Passport directly - their lurkers have been quite clear on Flyertalk. They should sort out the 2,500 bonus points quite quickly.

It sounds like either the property or agent has gone rogue like the Indianapolis property a few months ago.

Wisconsin, Hyatt Regency Milwaukee

Lounge is now closed on weekends, from sometime Friday afternoon (4pm?) to Monday morning. Property's Hyatt website just says it's closed on weekends, but they continue to sell Regency Club rooms at higher rates.

When I called to ask for details of the weekend closing and then asked about the 2500 points, person put me on hold to ask someone, presumably a manager.

At checkin, I asked about breakfast hours. Front desk agent said she "thought" breakfast ended at 10 and I insisted that she check as this mattered to me. I also asked about the 2500 points since my stay included a weekend night and again she thought so but didn't know. It later turned out that this clueless front desk clerk claimed to be the not only the front desk supervisor but also the manager on duty at the hotel. Wow!

Would it be possible to make this a Sticky? Always have to hunt down that list and actually found 2-3 threads more all about the same topic.
