Alamo - will they let me swap a car because of MyKey?
Picked up a monthly rental yesterday, and discovered too late that it's speed limited to 80mph.
Other than the announce trying to pass people in LA, where 80 is pretty much the speed of traffic outside of rush hour, I'll be driving into NV and then to AZ, where for some stretches the limit goes up to 75.
Any idea if Alamo will let me switch out the car without a lot of fuss?

As long as you return it with no damage and a full tank of gas, there should be no reason they would object to you returning it for any reason, even if you just wanted to try a different model.
Do us all a favor and after you swap, be sure to write Alamo corporate and let them know you are very unsatisfied with your first rental car because of the MyKey activation. Perhaps with enough complaints, they will make it standard practice to ensure it is deactivated on all cars.
I would avoid initially telling them outright that you want to swap because of the MyKey and see if they'll let you swap without even giving them a reason. However, if they ask, be sure to play up how unsafe you feel driving that car and you need to swap it because the MyKey limiter places you in an unsafe position relative to other moving traffic.

Or just say that you're not particularly happy with it and want to try something else. That's what I do when I get something that wasn't my top choice. At National in Toronto on two occasions I got a Galant and an Altima, not bad cars, but not as well-equipped as the new Fusions and Sonatas. So I went to the airport and exchanged for a Fusion and Sonata respectively without any fuss. But as jackal says, make sure to top up the car you're bringing back before exchanging. Good luck!
