SPG Gold status match

Wow, I am very surprised about this! Yesterday, after reading up on this thread, I decided to send an email to Starwood asking for a status match from my AA Plat status. I never thought they'd actually do it, but this morning I logged into my account and I was SPG Gold. I never had to send them any proof or anything. Here's a copy of the email I sent and the one I received back:

Hello,

This email is in regards to receiving a status match to Gold Preferred status with Starwood. I am currently a Platinum Elite member of American Airlines, and I was told that Starwood will comp Gold Preferred status to elite members of American Airlines. With my new job, I will be doing a lot of business travel in the coming months, and I am in the process of choosing a hotel chain to give my business to. If Starwood is willing to comp me with Gold Preferred status, then I would happily use Starwood hotels for all of my upcoming stays. I am willing to send over any documents necessary to prove my status with American and I look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Here's the email I received back:

Now, I'm not sure why the expiration date says February, 2001 but does anyone know the actual date that my gold status will expire?
