I just repriced my PDX-SFO-HNL-SFO-PDX in December on united.com, which came up with a much, much lower fare of $392.29, $336.65 less than I originally paid for in July! I was given two refund options there, 1) UA Travel Voucher for $336.65 mailed to me, or 2) $236.65 (after a $100.00 service charge to exchange ticket) refund to my credit card. I followed everyone's advice here and called 1K instead of completing the transaction online. I selected a travel voucher, which is good for any UA/UX flights, both domestic & international, without any fare class or a minimum fare amount restrictions. BTW, my UG and seat assignments were kept. I was told it would "normally take about 3 weeks to receive the voucher."
Thanks, everyone, for a good advice!
