The 2009 DC Area Happy Hour Thread

The 2009 DC Area Happy Hour Thread
Welcome all to the new 2009 DC Metro Area Happy Hour Thread!

Our Happy Hours are not necessarily restricted to just Happy Hours - they can include lunches, dinners, driving in circles in parking lots, and anything else you can dream up and assemble a bunch of people for!

One handy tip: Do go to an ATM and carry cash with you - its always easier to settle a bill if everyone has cash - rather than having 10 credit cards on the table. And we can let the host/hostess (organizer) use a credit card if they prefer

---------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing currently scheduled. If anyone wants to get together the last week of 2009, please post to the thread and I'll see if we can schedule anything. If not, stay tuned for our 2010 thread.

---------------------------------------------------------------

We welcome all suggestions on locations, dates and times. We do make an effort to spread things out geograpically, recognizing the dining diversity in the DC region. Generally, we try to have an event every four to six weeks - but if people can meet up more often than that - that's fantastic too.

I have a fruit cake in my fridge that I'd like to offer as a raffle for our next HH. This can be re-gifted at future HH's, a gift that keeps on giving if you will.

GrizShel and mot29 have replied to my thread. Since I am the out of town visitor, I am deferring to them to select a restaurant close to a Metro stop. I can be most any place in the District by 7:00 or 7:30 pm.....assuming United leaves ORD on time and I land around 4:40 pm. I'm staying at the 4 Points on K/13 St, near Metro Center stop.

Take the plunge.

Suggest a location, day and time that works for you (it's often best if you're able to give a couple of possible days), then, based on the responses to your proposal, decide on the details and post it to the thread. I'll then list it as a tentative event. Once there's critical mass (to my mind, at least 4 participants, but of course, the more the merrier), I'll list it as a confirmed event in post #1.

Events proposed by people other than me are warmly welcomed -- and appreciated!

C'mon. Who wants to start?

Sounds like Dim Sum to me... Not in Clarendon, but just 3 stops beyond in Rosslyn is a Chinese venue that one of our mainland Chinese coworker recommends. www.chinagardenva.com

Greg, thanks for the inauguration thread shout out. I know you're not around DC during the inauguration but hopefully we'll have a beer somewhere soon.^
