At the HWV you need to register but you only get points and not a cheaper stay. No idea how you get invites for a cheaper stay.

So even if someone wants to buy into HGVC, I don't see the draw of purchasing direct. Unless, like Marriott, if you purchase early into a location, the price is much lower and about what the resale price will end up once resales start to hit the market.

I did the tour in NY recently. I would say it was a mid pressure sales pitch that took about 70 minutes. Price was high 50k - 66K. Package deal was nice as I received 3 nights at the NY Hilton, 20K HH points, $100 Amex and $100 credit to spend at hotel. All this for $280. If you get the telemarketing call from HGVC, negotiate with them as the first offer can easily be sweetened.
