Thanks everyone for your help. ^
Today I received a reply from Amanpulo basically saying that the weather during this time is unpredictable and if there is a typhoon nearby there could be days of rain.

Based on that and what you have said I dont think we are willing to risk it, even though I really wanted to convince myself that it would be ok!
Instead I am thinking about going to Bali to stay in the Amans there even though I stayed at Amankila last year (and would love to go again). Unless anyone can recommend other beach (Aman) resorts in the world?
My family have not stayed at an Aman before so I want them to experience it!
Unfortunately the only other time we have free besides Aug/Sept, I was hoping to go to Amanpulo for Christmas/New Year but they are already fully booked...

In the past, Aman never allowed three adults to share a room. Has this changed?
Also, I am not sure how you could fit three adults into, say, a villa bedroom at Amanusa or Amankila. The only Bali Aman where this would work is Amandari, as long as you took one of the bi-level villas.

Yes, the two storey suites at Amandari can easily take 4 adults.
The tents at Amanwana can also be made up for four adults with a double and the two divans to the front.

Strange things have been going on at my most favourite resort :

Murder probe at Amanpulo...:

...during which the GM allegedly fled the country:

Very strange case Philippine-style:

Sure like to know what happened to that guy. Though murder seems a bit far fetched. There are more common reasons for people to die.

Keep us posted.

Settled out of court. Then not enough evidence...

Did not know about this, but doesn't sound entirely believable. I hate to say this about a country, but it's not unheard of for police there to bring out bogus charges in hopes for a pay-out.

Am actually looking to go to Amanpulo next week for our wedding anniversary. Yes, I know it's rainy season, but the 14 day forecast looks promising with only 1 day of rain in the 6 days we are looking to be there, and we have been longing to go for a long time!

On that note, does anyone have any news on the Aman in Beijing? Will it be open this year? We will be attending the last week of the Olympics in August, and though we already have hotel reservations, could easily give those up if it means staying at an Aman.

That's fantastic, hopefully we'll be able to at least visit the restaurant as we will be in Beijing from August 21-25. I have to say it seems Amanresorts did miss an auspicious opportunity not being able to open it in time for the Olympics.

Hopefully I won't jinx our trip, but does anybody here have any experience at Amanpulo at the end of June/beginning of July?

Thank you! Yes, that's a good tip, I'll speak to the folks at Amanpulo when I'm there next week about arrangements for Aman at Summer Palace. Besides restaurant reservations, it would be nice if they would allow us a sneak peak at possibly the accommodations and any other facilities.

Yes, will definitely enjoy the Olympics! We have tickets to Men's Basketball Semi-Finals, Boxing Finals, Athletics Finals, and Water Polo Finals (!). Passed up the Closing Ceremonies as $3,500 per ticket for a group of five doesn't seem worth it for a two hour ceremony!

Please update us all on amanpulo. If you get a chance an up to date review on food, management and staff etc. would be great.
Enjoy !
