UGS Power!!

Great story: I was flying IAD to Portland, ME on Saturday morning, and it was an overbooked flight. I was flying on an awards ticket (free). I have no status with United but my father is 1K/UGS. The gate agent called me to the gate and told me they we're going to have to move me to a flight that left 6 hours later. I calmly told her my father's status and that this was an extreme inconvenience, and so she called over a manager (red coat). The manager quickly told her to bump someone else and apologized to me profusely. I thought this was a good example of United taking care of the family of important customers.

Red coat? Hey, that guy worked for Continental or Delta, not United!

With all due respect, I think it was a bad decision to bump a PAX passenger for a person on an award ticket. If you bumped another award flyer, then so be it since being connected is worth ones weight in gold.

I agree, and I didn't feel that great doing it, but when you consider that my dad flies First on United from IAD to LHR or CDG at least once a month (sometimes once a week!), you could easily argue that he's contributed enough to the airline to have them not bump his son from an award ticket.

I just got my popcorn out of the Microwave as well... Can't wait for the fun to begin... I'm thinking probably in the 5AM to 7AM timeframe Monday morning - with closure of thread by mid-morning Tuesday.

Hmmm...I'm a little too old to use this line. I suppose I could say my kid was a 1K/UGS, wonder if that would work if I was in the same situation?

Its been a while since I studied biology but I dont remember there being a chromosome for 1K Status!

It`s enough to make one want to turn to socialism...

DronekLAX. You're so cool. I'm right with you. Newly made up handle here to troll trouble.

Hey 1K,UGSsonMADEupSTORYdorkBOY: Go troll elsewhere. Those of us that really experience what is going on know better.
