The Honeymoon Thread: 2001-2010
Hey fellow FTers. I need some help.
My little brother is getting married in June of 2002. For my wedding present I'm giving them a Hilton award for their honeymoon.
At first I thought about the ALON award, but after chatting with my brother, he informs me he wants to go somewhere where they can go out (to clubs/bars) as 20 year olds.
Lets just say when I was 20 (a whole 3 years ago) I wasn't thinking about marriage, but they already own a house, and I'm sure I'll have a niece/nephew within a few years.
Anyway.....my first guess is Mexico. Or maybe the Bahamas. What about the new Camino Resorts?
Any suggestions? I have 350K points, but I have to save 100K for my best-friend at work, because she's getting an ALON award as her wedding gift in Oct 2002.
Thanks to everyone in advance.
Russ

London would be great if he really wants the bars, however the beaches aren't great. I want to St. Lucia last year, but it is really remote and there are no bars, but great beaches. Mexico is an obvious choice.
Good luck.

Miami and the famous Fontainbleau or the Waldorf in NY.
The Paris hilton is great and the langham london.
The Hilton Melbourne Australia(melb is the bar capitol of OZ)
All those are great hotels!

For drinking ages around the globe, see:
http://www.icap.org/publications/report4.html
Sounds like 20 year olds can party hardy in most countries.

The former Caesar Park is a Hilton now, supposed to be very nice. No worries about drinking age there, that's for sure.
Nice present, BTW.

Hilton Caribe in Puerto Rico
Benefits:
Great location,
San Juan is a party town,
Lots and Lots of outdoor activities,
Great Food,
PR uses the good ole US buck, no currency exchange rates to deal with,
No Customs delays to deal with.

Hilton honeymoon suggestions?
I am getting married in early August. I have about 175,000 HHonors points and will easily earn another 25,000 or so by my honeymoon (unless Hilton comes through with one or more 50,000 point promotions).
Any suggestions on where to burn these points on honeymoon? We would like to go somewhere really posh and tropical.
Thanks in advance.

What type of a trip do you want. Beaches, mountians, or city. Do you want a party place or laid back. For beaches, I loved St Lucia Hilton and Cancun Hilton. I saw that you are a starwoods plt. How about Hawaii, mix and match pts, hhv and the Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui. For fun, Key West is a great place, so many bars so little time. The Key West Hilton is great. I have also been to Cabo San Lacus(Baja Mexico), Hilton has a brand new Resort opening in Feb- (classic Level). Cabo is alot of fun -

Thanks for the suggestions. I am Starwood Platinum only because of status match. I do not have *any* Starpoints yet, though I should have several thousand by then (enough to get a free stay(?, haven't looked)).
Maybe St. Lucia. We just want to relax and spend some time in the water. No party scene for us.
Any specific suggestions on what to do/see in St. Lucia?

I agree with St Lucia. We were so impressed with the Hilton there that we are getting married there this coming September.
We stayed in the Papaya Patch section and had a great suite and view.
I found some good information at www.fodors.com on St Lucia.
Gold status will really help with the upgrade and the VIP 150,000 point - 6 night award. Book far in advance.

If you do go with the St Lucia Hilton, book soon, property sells out all the time. I called the hotel after hhonors made my reservation, (told them it was our honeymoon, and being a dia level, asked and recieved an upgrade-- villa). Great hotel, nice beach, food can be hit or miss, just give me a good burger and I would be happy.
