Exclamation Corporate Preferred/Preferred Plus Program [Master Thread]

I looked at the preferredguest web site, and found information for gold and platinum levels, but could not find the section for corporate preferred. Does such information exist?

Does the stay count for 2000 point bonus (5th and 10th stay) reset every year? That is if I had 3 stays this year and 2 stays next year, would I receive the bonus?

And is there a bonus for the 15th, 20th, ... stay?

PG, the Corporate Preferred level is not really a published level in the program so we don't put any information about it on the web site.

Your threshold bonus will re-set each calendar year (January - December). You would have to have five stays in a calendar year to reach the first threshold bonus and another five stays in the same calendar year to reach the second one. There are no threshold bonuses beyond this because your account will upgrade to the Gold elite level after the tenth stay is credited. Then you begin to earn bonus Starpoints on every stay.

Sincerely,

William - as usual, thanks for the helpful information.

Depending on one's number of stays and average hotel bill, Corporate Preferred could work out to be better than Gold.

Another question - is elite membership on a calendar year or a 12 month basis? Right now I am Corporate Preferred, but also have the opportunity to get Gold status as I joined nwa.com. I was wondering if I would get 8 months of Gold or 12 months of Gold if I redeemed the nwa.com offer.

PG, if you were upgraded to Gold elite today, your renewal date would re-set to February 29, 2004 from using the promotion code.

That being said, elite memberships run on the calendar year from January through December, so you would have to qualify for Gold elite again beginning January 1, 2003.

Hope that helps.

CorporatePreferred..Hey what is it good for?...Tellme something (singing).

I am a member of the AICPA and recently got a mailing telling me I am now Starwood Corporate Preferred. I also happen to be Gold (through promotion of the nwa.com club)...I am a loyal HH member but I am checking out the Sheraton next month just to see what "the other side" is like

From what I understand so far (which is not much), the only real benefit CP gets me is a somewhat discounted rate...

And I am identified for being CP by my global preference number xxxxx.

So for my stay coming up I show my Gold card and that should take care of things in the most advantageous way? Or do I tell them I am CP (already in my profile)...

I guess I am supremely confused on the differences between Gold and CP.

Please Lurker shed some light if you can, thanks

George

gpapadop - there are many threads on this which you can find with search. The biggest difference is that Gold gives you 3 points per dollar, while CP gives you 2 points per dollar. But CP will give you 2000 point on the calendar year 5th and 10th stay. So depending on your number of stays, and also on your average hotel bill, Gold may be better than CP or CP may be better than Gold for earning points.

Another difference is the 1500 min. point transfer for airlines for Gold. I believe (but not absolutely sure) that it is 2500 pts for CP.

Comments in FT suggest that upgrades are same with either.

Corporate Preferred or Gold?

I have the option of signing up for the Starwood Preferred Guest program as a Gold Member with a referral:

"Click below and you'll receive complimentary Gold Preferred Guest(R) status through February 2003, a privilege that usually requires 10 stays. As an elite Gold member, you'll receive exceptional benefits such as free nights, free flights and more. Book and stay January 15 through April 30, 2002 and you'll earn 5,000 bonus Starpoints after just five stays. That's enough for a free weekend........"

or at the Corporate Preferred level:

"As a Corporate Preferred member in the Starwood Preferred GuestSM program, MYOBTravelSM Travelers will receive the following benefits:

No black-out dates on award stays so you can go where you want, when you want*
4 p.m. late checkout**
2,000 Starpoint bonus points on your 5th and 10th stay
Complimentary upgrades to a Preferred room, when available, at check in
Join today to enroll in the Starwood Preferred Guest program or upgrade your existing membership to Corporate Preferred by calling 1-888-625-4988 and be sure to mention enrollment code 'DB'. Join now and you will be on your way to free nights, free flights, and more! For more information and complete program terms and conditions visit www.spg.com.....

My question is which is better - Corporate Preferred or Gold?

(edited for spelling)

Another question that I didn't really see answered in any of the other threads...I have a Starwood Preferred Guest card and a CP card (0 pts on both). I am going to upgrade to gold (by way of being plat. on NWA). Does it matter which account I upgrade on? It seems to me that I would have to pick one to start applying my points to. Thanks!

Not sure how you ended up with duplicate accounts, but it happens. I would say pick one you like over the other - maybe one has an easier number to remember - and then have the other one merged into it. Then, you can do the Gold voodoo thing with Northwest Airlines WorldPerks.

Be forewarned, it is against the Terms and Conditions to have more than one account in your name. Not that the SPG Police are coming to get you or anything, but the database regularly catches these things and combines duplicate accounts of it's own accord. If that happens, you won't have a choice over which account is merged and which one remains active.

Well, I had the regular account, and then I received the corporate card in the mail one day. If I remember correctly, it was sent by my firm. "As an employee of...we invite...(or words to that effect)" It appears as though the CP has an expiration date. So say I don't requalify for gold (and can't upgrade it through NWA), is my CP account still good next year?

Provided you activate it by staying and using it. Otherwise, it will remain in "pended" status indefinitely.

Corporate Preferred vs. Gold

Does anyone know the difference between Corporate Preferred and Gold status? As far as I can tell, they both allow for upgrades and such but does anyone have any experience with one being preferrable to the other? Thanks!
