Arrow Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia [Master Thread]

Going there with my gf in about 8 days - flying her down from the states and want to surprise her with a week by the ocean... can anyone give me an updated report (last one is from 2002 that I can find on this site) for this resort.

Thanks!

Stayed there in April this Year. Ask for a Mirage Corner Room with Ocean View ( Think theese rooms are larger than standard rooms and have a Whirl pool tub). Hotel Is a bit tired.

Beech in nice, you are about a 2 mile walk along the beech form surfers paradise. And you are accross the street from an upscale marina with good shops and quality places to eat. Hotel was very full when we stayed and you often had a long que for breakfast. Staff are friendly and professional.

Just returned from a post christmas trip from this property. I don't really have much of value to add though.

It was very busy, with lots of family groups as you would imagine for this time of year.

Valet parking (normally $5.50 per day) was free.

Slept through breakfast hours so can't comment on that.

Pools and gardens were well maintained.

I had a beachfront room. Very pleasant opening the big sliding windows and watching the surf.

The rooms are starting to date and have a slight late eighties miami vice feel to them. Basically a carpeted bedroom area leading on to a tiled indoor terrace/sitting area. Moderate sized bathroom with large spa.

Slight negative was that I felt that the room could do with better sound proofing with a lot of hallway noise coming in.

Staff all very friendly and all requests handled promptly. Even though they seemed quite busy, my request for a late checkout was granted without any hassle.

Also good dining options up the road in Main Beach. Across the road next to the Palazzo Versace is a cheap fresh fish outlet. Picked up some fish and chips for lunch and sat on the beach in front of the Mirage eating them - very pleasant.

Sheraton gold coast has some good and bad points.
Good, great rooms, nice entrance, across the street from an expensive shopping centre but small. lots of dinning near by. Sea world up the street.Marina with a restaruant and pokies down the street.

Bad; long ways from the action, can't see the beach from room or property grounds. Casino and Broad Beach quite a jaunt. need a rental car to get around.

If you want peace and quite number one.
if you want some action go to Surfers. great food, and night life.

REgards,
Robert

Sheraton Mirage, Surfer's Paradise?

Has anyone stayed at this Sheraton?? The search isn't up & running.... I am wondering if we will enjoy our stay... Is the location quiet? It looks to be a ways from the craziness of the Surfer's strip....

I've stayed there twice. The hotel is quite upscale. It is some distance from the heart of the action and is very quiet.

Thanks Always Flyin, that's what I gathered from the website! How is the service there? Is it reasonably okay, or will we be disappointed? We found the service in Noosa to be quite good... in fact we will spend five days at this location & five days in Noosa....

Any suggestions as to how to avoid the crowd's & noise of what looks to be the Surfer's strip?

TIA!

The Shreaton Mirage is quite along way form the Surfers Paradise Area( a few miles) . ( You can walk along the beech but where you are it is quite quite). It is right across from the Versarce ( Forgive my spelling) hotel , and a small shopping ctr with some nice restaurants.

This is a nice hotel , larger that Noosa, service good ( in terms of price).

I would stay here again.

We were treated like royalty. A huge suite - champagne, etc. etc. Others have had less than favorable results.

I think you may be referring to the Palazzo Versace. Very hard to compare given that the Palazzo was finished in September 2000 and has pitched itself as a 6 star resort and the Sheraton Mirage was built back in the 80's and never claimed to be more than 5 stars.

The fact that you pretty much have to spend about twice the amount to stay at the Versace gives you an idea as to what to expect.

Is this hotel worth $635AU per night??? Seems a bit high compared with what we have paid for resort rooms on Maui.

you are obviously trying to go ther during the xmas ny season. ]
they sell out every year at that price so yes. I imagine it is worth whatever people are prepared to pay.

Would I try to go there at that time and pay that price
no it is not worth more than $300 on a good day in my opinion and their plat upgrades of late have been non existant!!
I do like this hotel but for the money and the upgrades I head out to sanctuary cove.
I know its not on the water so may not suit you

also you need a car but if going anywhere near the movieworld SC is the place to be for that.

Arrow Recent stays at Sheraton Mirage GOLD COAST??

I am interested in staying at the Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast .

Anyone stayed here recently?

Has the upgrade been completed?

What (if any) room upgrade can a GOLD member expect?

What type of room upgrade would a PLAT get?

What are the restaurants like?

Thank you
