Citibank AA world master card
I have a Citibank AAdvantahe World Mastercard. There's "platinum level" written on it. What does it mean? It's not the Citibank AA platinum select. How is it compared to the AA platinum select or AA gold?

I think the World Mastercard is the highest level of MasterCards. Like Visa Signature or AMEX Platinum.
Other than the way they look, I don't really know the difference except that with World Mastercard, you get a 10k bonus where the standard AA card gives you 7000.
I have the AA World card Gold Level though.

The World MasterCard is the highest level card, like the VISA Signature. In terms of the Citibank AAdvantage World card their are a few differences between Gold and Platinum. The Platinum card has a mileage cap of 100,000 vs. 60,000 for Gold. However, if you are AAdv. Gold, Plat. or Exec Plat. these limits don't apply to you.
Neither card has a pre-set spending limit.
With Platinum you get an annual summary - Gold does not. There are also a few more benes that just Plat. gets.
It's different than the standard Citibank AAdvantage card in that you have no pre-set spending limit, World cards have lost luggage insurance while standard cards don't.
Hope this answers some of your questions. If you want more details of the differences, Citi Cust. Svc. is well versed in the products and can help you.

I signed up for this card online, and haven't heard anything from them yet - not even an email to say whether I've been accepted, bait-and-switched (a common Citi tactic), or rejected. It's now been six days. If this is an indication of the customer service I can expect, then I imagine that my experience with this card won't last long. Somehow I'm beginning to doubt that I'll ever see the card, or the 10,000 bonus miles...

rmccamy,
Since I got the card, i have been using it religously along with my DC. I have really no complaints at all, and I called the Customer Service line couple of times and even though it is alot slower than the DC CS line but they aren't that bad at all.
Not to mention the online access for both DC and World/MC is far far superior than FirstUSA's slow poke website.

In general, yes - ten thousand AAdvantage miles are worth more than $50.
Good luck getting the card or the miles out of this offer, though. I applied a month ago, and haven't heard anything. I tried to call Citibank twice, but was placed on lengthy hold both times. At this point, I have no choice but to wait and see if any credit card shows up in my mailbox. I'm starting to feel pretty stupid for filling out that online application.
