The Black Ram Restaurant in Des Plaines, (very close to ORD)
Had dinner last night with my Pop. We dined at the Black Ram Restaurant in Des Plaines, which is the suburb just to the north of O’Hare. It would be a 10 minute cab ride.
Info on hours, location, and menu can be found: http://www.blackramsteakhouse.com/
The Black Ram, IMO, is a good restaurant, not great, but just a solid restaurant where good food is served.
To start I had the Grilled Portabella Mushroom with roasted peppers, cognac sauce. This was outstanding! Perfect.
Pop had a smoked salmon appetizer that was very good.
For dinner, I choose the Veal Porterhouse w/the same cognac sauce as it was so good. I was not disappointed, done to a perfect medium rare. A very good piece of meat.
Pop had the Veal Piccante described as milk-fed provimi veal slices gently
sautéed in light lemon caper sauce over linguini. He proclaimed it very good.
All dinners are complimented by choice of house Caesar or fresh garden salad and choice of baked or twice-baked potato. The Caesar salad was not good; I would get the garden salad or soup next time. The twice-baked was terrific.
All in all a good meal, just a solid restaurant. Would be good to entertain business guests.

SW - So sad to hear of the "Ram" closing
I used to eat there about once/twice a quarter for business, but its been about 6 years since I've been there......
It was a good, local joint!
Best wishes.
