Exclamation Get "UNLIMITED" AA miles for less than $0.01 per mile

EDIT: This deal is now on FW - this creates a huge problem, it'll die really really soon...so get your points and get out

I have already successfully finished my first transaction, so it does work.

Step 1) Open a points.com account with the "ebay anything points" sign-up offer, you get 2100 ebay anything points for $19.95

Step 2) Transfer these points to AA with points.com. Usually you would get 977 miles for these $21.00 - however, they are having their 3rd birthday celebration right now and you get 125% bonus.

Click me...

Here is what posted to my account for the initial $19.95:

04/11/04 POINTS 3RD BIRTHDAY BONUS 0 1,221 1,221
04/11/04 POINTS.COM MILEAGE TRANSFER 977 0 977

Step 3) This is where it gets good: purchase ebay gift certificates and for each $ you will get 100 anything points. Buy $100 worth of gift certificates for 10,465 miles for an effective cost of 0.00955$ per mile.
These miles DO count towards MM status...!

Ste 4) I will not take any liability for this post, if for some reason it doesn't work for you or the deal dies off - don't blame me

You lose me on step 3. Where do you see the ability to buy e-Bay gift certificates and get 100 points for every dollar you spend (i.e. buy one $100 gift certificate to earn 10,000 anything points - which converts to 10,465 miles)?

Seperately, this promotion does appear to be a good way to move US miles into AA without the usual very extreme dilution. Right now 10,000 US miles equals 4,500 anything points. And as you point out, 10,000 anything points converst to 10,465 AA miles. So with these two promotions, 1,000 US miles equals 470 AA miles. Still more than 50% dilution, but not as bad as other alternatives.

If this works, it is a cheap alternative to mileage runs, for those whose mileage runs are primarily to accumulate miles and not status.

Buy them over on eBay.com. They are listed on the main page all the way at the bottom.

Yes, I agree. I don't see anything that suggests you get 100 points per dollar - or even any points per dollar.

I decided to give it a shot and bought a $25 GC and sent it to my wife. No points posted immediately (having just registered for anything points, I have no idea how long they take to post) but it is worth a shot since you can do this according to eBay (https://giftcertificates.ebay.com/overview.html#Purch11):

After Purchase
If you have already completed your purchase, you or your recipient may cancel the Gift Certificate within 60 days of the date of purchase. The funds will then be will be returned to purchaser.

How to cancel (Purchaser)

In your Account Overview at PayPal, click on the History tab
Find the Transaction line item for your eBay Gift Certificate purchase and click on Details for that transaction.
Click the Cancel button. You will receive email confirming the cancellation and the return of your funds.

You're right. I don't even see where you can convert (or get) Anything points for purchasing a GC. Help please?

Thanks for the heads up.

It looks like that accounts with Canadian addresses get a better rate of $21.35Cdn (about $15.99US)
