Lightbulb New York Delta Flyertalk meet

I am no Dovster,(as I have heard from many past rondevous') and I have no hot sauce to offer but I would certainly like to get together for a lunch or dinner. ^ Only thing is that if I mention it I would hate to be appointed to put the whole thing together. I think there would be some interest. Anyone care to take it from here?

Sounds like something I need to circle on the calendar for 2005. Something you don't find a lot of in Mobile, decent restaurants. Heading to SFO that week.

June 23?

A NYC lunch on June 23 would be great. Blue Smoke, a very popular barbecue restaurant, is maybe 300 feet from my office on 27th St. between Park and Lex. It's very convenient to the #6 subway line (use the 28th St. stop). They participate in restaurant week, with three-course lunches at $20.04. Take a look at their web site:

http://www.bluesmoke.com/

I eat there pretty often and could easily arrange everything. Does the date work?

Blue Smoke on 6/23 is fine for me. Hopefully the date works for everyone.

Unhappy I'd love to attend, but ...

... I'll be in Iceland with my daughter (on the $0 mistake fare) until the 24th.

It now seems tradition that a DL Meet meal has to be at a BBQ restaurant...

BTW, perhaps we should consider doing dinner instead of lunch during restaurant week as there are some great deals available, and we won't have to worry about getting back to our offices. Also I don't know about the rest of you, but a few cocktails wouldn't hurt either.

Love to come

I'd love to come if I'm around, but I have to say that despite the hype, I was VERY disappointed with the food at Blue Smoke. The jazz was good, but the food tasted like it was made at the Chef-boy-ardee factory.

Too sweet, fake tasting... like BBQ for 8 year olds.....

I'm not sure that I'll be in the city that day, so I won't be pushy, but I think the food at Virgil's or even Tennessee Mountain is much better

20-25 I am at a convention in Dallas Texas I would much rather have lunch or dinner with Fters.

I will have to take a rain check.

I think that was more of a disclaimer by findmeinfirst (just to play it absolutely safe) than anything else, Dovster.

I used to work right around the corner from you, bdschobel, on Lexington Avenue near East 29 Street.

Does one still catch the strong scent of curry spice when walking past the area unofficially known as Little India?

Anyway, whenever I return to my original hometown of New York, it is never for barbecue. Rather, I will head straight for pizza, Italian food, bialies, bagels and other baked goods (all in Brooklyn), or Katz Delicatessen or a steakhouse in Manhattan instead.

I also miss that wonderful elixir known as New York City tap water, which is the best-tasting water by far in the world!

Going strong...

"Little India" is going strong and growing.
It's got great restaurants, much better than 6th street, IMO.

But we've always called it Curry Hill (after neighboring Murray Hill).
