Ft Athletic partners on the road - a list of people available to play
Several people on the board take their running shoes, swimsuits, tennis rackets and golf clubs on the road. I thought we could start a listing of FTers available to meet up for athletic endeavors (no, lifting a pint is not an athletic endeavor ) so we could perhaps set up dates for running, biking, swimming, tennis and so on.
I'll keep this maintained by sorting everyone by city. If you could post your FT name, sports (and any applicable rating such as tennis 4.0) and city I'll keep it updated on the first couple of posts.
Arizona
tlglenn - running, cycling, hiking, flying, shooting, geocaching, indoor rock climbing, maybe pole vaulting - Tucson
California
Indurain - 24Hour Fitness evenings daily, flexible on weekends; cycling (mostly road and on weekends) 15-18mph avg over 20-40 miles - Irvine/Southern California
Japhydog - Erratic but determined tennis player (3.0), open to other sports as well - San Francisco.
letiole - tennis (3.5); cycling (road/also have a tandem for those who don't pack their bikes); yoga; (sailing's an option, but it's generally an all-day thing)
- Alamo/Walnut Creek, CA
dhuey - cycling (road and mountain); running - San Francisco Bay Area
stimpy - basketball, tennis, jogging, hiking, golf, yoga and most any other - Southern California
Windflyer - windsurfing (April to October is peak season); if you really, really want to try kiteboarding or surfing, I can also get you hooked up, though I've personally given up on those. Workouts on an irregular schedule (depending on the vagaries of winds, swells and tides) - San Francisco Bay Area
Colorado
RobotDoctor - golf! I generally score in the low 80s for 18 holes but sometimes dip into the mid to upper 70s - Longmont, 30 miles north of Denver.
jneugeba - tennis 3.5/4.0 - Denver
Delaware
dukeman - long-distance runner. I run most mornings at 5:30am. Typically 7:30 miles. Length varies from 6-10 miles with the exception of the long run during marathon training, then 12-20 miles - Wilmington
Kentucky

Basketball, tennis, jogging, hiking and most any other sport.
Also Golf and Yoga, although they aren't really sports.
Sometimes in So Cal, sometimes in Burgundy, often in seat 1A, more often in a Heavenly Bed.

Great thread idea, letiole. I'm an avid cyclist and slightly less avid runner. I generally ride and run alone, but if anyone is visiting the Bay Area, I'd be happy to guide you on my favorite road rides, mtn. bike rides and running routes. Although there are some great ones here in the East Bay, nothing beats Marin county for cycling and San Francisco for running.
Also, I'm going to be at Le Tour de France this year for L'Alps portion (via Trek Travel). Anyone else going?
One more thing, I "won" the lottery for the NYC Marathon this year. I know little about the course, so I'd love to hear from anyone who is familiar with it.
Edited to add still one more thing: I have experience with road riding in Maui and the Big Island, and I have some out of print books on cycling in the other islands. Just let me know if you need info.

We will always walk forever, dance all night, do yoga, or sail--even if it takes all day.
Our primary work out is done first thing each morning in our room, no matter where we are. We do cardio three days a week, alternated, with sclupt on the alternate three days a week, so we always pack resistance bands.
Most hotel fitness centers are the pits so we usually stick to working out in our room. If anyone would like to join us they are certainly welcom to do so.

If anyone is a bikrim yoga devotee, I'm always willing to help you find a class in Dallas. (When I'm not cursing and fighting the hot room, I practice in Grapevine.) I also do the rotation of various 24Hour Fitness locales to put in 5k on the treadmill (walking) so I'll met up with someone if you are a member (or in a reciprocity program) and want someone to walk with.

Golf
RD is into Golf! I generally score in the low 80s for 18 holes but sometimes dip into the mid to upper 70s. I have also been known to be in the upper 80s as well. It all depends on how much I have been playing during any given point.
I played last week and turned a round that should have been between 73 and 75 (par 72) into an 81 because of a back nine collapse. That makes 2 weeks in a row doing the same collapse.
It is difficult for me to plan Golf at the last minute as family takes precedence. However, I do love to play and will play with anyone as long as they have respect for the game regardless of what they score.

Indurain goes to the 24Hour Fitness daily in Irvine, CA. During the week between 6pm to 8pm, MWF heavy lifting (free weights, bench, plates), TTh cardio (stair climbers, elipticals). Weekend times are more flexible.
Cycling is possible on weekends, 20 to 40 miles, light to moderate hills, 15 to 18mph average. I ride on streets with bike lanes mostly but know a bike path or two nearby as well. (Currently out with plantar faciitis)
Basketball on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. Tuesday nights are with younger (college) folks who like to run, and Saturday mornings are with older folks (40+) who like to bang around. (Currently out with plantar faciitis)
