Thumbs up

Thanks for the great tip. I just purchased the night of Feb 15. Looked for some other dates, but no luck. This hotel normally sells for $200 and up.

Exclamation

I think it's dead. (or at least travelocity doesn't have it anymore - 2/15, 1 person)

Received a message this morning from Travelocity advising they're not going to honor the rate. Either pay $173 or cancel and get a refund. They processed my credit card payment on Jan 17, so it's not a case where I haven't been charged yet and they can wiggle out that way.

Haven't called them back yet.

Has Travelocity contacted you, IFlySJC?

Is it customary for Travelocity to renig on these "deals" ??

Not the end of the world, but don't want to give up quite this easily either!

Ooooh! That's NOT nice!

Didn't you get this message at the bottom of your emailed booking confirmation?:
Everything about your booking will be RIGHT, or we'll work with our partners to make it right, right awayLearn more.

I'm also interested to know if yours was a 'good buy' rate.

Anywy - you've spurred me into confirming our rates at another hotel in this forum. Thanks! And best of luck!!!

Yes, it was a 'good buy' rate. Does that put me in a better or worse position to bargain?

This from Travelocity!

"What do we mean when we say that everything about your booking will be "right?"
All travel booked on Travelocity will be consistent with the promise of its detailed description on our site and your travel itinerary (as confirmed on our site 24 hours prior to departure)be it airline flights, hotels, a TotalTripSM (flight + hotel package), a Last Minute Deal package, cruises, car rentals, or attractions/event tickets.

Human error happens; nobody's perfectbut in those rare cases that we make a mistake you can count on us to take responsibility for it, and to be thoughtful and fair as we work to resolve it. If, say, we inadvertently advertise a fare that's just "too good to be true," like a free trip to Fiji, we'll work with you and our travel partners to make it up to you and find a solution that puts a smile on your face."

I suppose Travelocity's definition of the vague words "thoughtful" and "fair" is that they're offering a refund without penalties! Can't go so far as to say it will put a smile on my face, though....

Did you book non-refundable airfare already - if that is the case you may want to mention that to them....

I wonder are they going to do the same on the other mistakes of late.....

Come to think of it, the real slap in the face is that I booked three cruises through Travelocity last year, totaling just under $12,000. Not to mention the deposit I put down yesterday for a $5,000 cruise later on this year.....

What if you OVERPAY?

If Travelocity can reneg on a deal that was too much in your favor, what happens if you unintentionally book a flight or room that is significantly overpriced?

Can you "work with them" to resolve the matter?

I think there are quite a few folks at FT that would be interested in hearing how this works out for you BEAV. Especially those who are paying the Travelocity booking fees strictly because of the "thoughtful and fair" promise.

Please post updates here as much as you can without generating privacy issues. Thanks and good luck. ^

Rest assured I will post follow ups with this scenario for the sake of all FT'ers. Only reason I haven't yet is because I've done absolutely nothing since receiving Travelocity's voice mail last week!

I was hoping with all the wonderful 'deals' lemex has posted, someone else would have already had a similar situation w/Travelocity, and I could learn from their experience. But am I really the pioneer here ???
