Jet mechanic's death a U.S. first

A mechanic sucked into a Continental Airlines jet engine in El Paso on Monday was the first to die that way in the United States while an aircraft was being prepared for flight, the National Transportation Safety Board said Thursday.

"It has not happened a lot, but it has happened before. Just not while boarding," NTSB spokeswoman Lauren Peduzzi said.

Any fatal tragedies in the US where a commercial passenger plane's propeller was the culprit?

Not to take a tragedy lightly, but... my favorite part of the article is this line:

Julie's Aircraft Service, the El Paso contractor where Buchanan worked, did not immediately return a message.

When was the last fatal tragedy in the US where a commercial passenger plane's propeller was the culprit (i.e. airline employee killed by propeller)?

I don't have a date but prop strikes have been occurring every year or two. I believe that there was one in 2005.
