FHR Upgrades and Amenities [except Las Vegas] 2006-2012

I was thinking it would be a good idea to post good FHR experiences as well as what the amenities are when the properties offer an "Exclusive Welcome Ammenity."

For example:

I have gotten upgrades ^ at:
-Windsor Court in New Orleans
-Lanesborough in London

Exclusive Welcome Amenity was:
-A bottle of Rioja in a wooden box with a corkscrew, wine collar, stopper, and pourer at Park Hyatt Villa Magna in Madrid

I'm going to The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park at the end of March with the FHR Rates.
Do you have any feedback on this location? Room upgrade?...

Thanks

Last year, we have received a one level upgrage from city view (lowest room category) to harbour view.

The lunch in the restaurant (the extra amenity) was very nice, by the way.

Thanks for the information. Some more questions, do you have access to the Club Level with the FHR upgrade?

May I have your feedback on the Hotel Amenities, quality of service? Location not too far from NYC attractions?

Once again thank you.

DSG

Battery Park

Battery Park is pretty far away from all NYC attractions with the exception of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street, and (if it is really an attraction) Ground Zero.

Property is upto Ritz standards, with incredible views, great service, and nice rooms. Just realize that a Taxi to midtown will be $20 or more.

No club level upgrade. For the rest: what Pointaholic said.

It also depends on what NYC attractions you are interested in (there are so many ). But, if you plan to spend much time around midtown or uptown, I would certainly select a hotel there. Last time I have split the time between midtown (staying at the Bryant Park Hotel ^ ) and the RC Battery Park for downtown/Tribeca/Soho activities.

Key Biscayne Ritz-Carlton-upgrade from garden view to ocean view. $50 gift shop certificate as stated in guide. Hotel Arts (Ritz Carlton in Barcelona) no upgrade, amenity was tea for two. It was put on our bill and we had some problems getting it taken off. Booked through PTS.

We had booked the least expensive room($229.00 a night) at the Ritz-Carlton Naples last year. We were upgraded to Ocean Front! It was a beautiful view. Also, we booked an inexpensive ($199.00 a night) room at the Ritz-Carlton Phoenix for the night before we were leaving town through the Platinum FHR program and we were upgraded to the club level. No great view but the food presentations and the free drinks were a much appreciated ammenity. If you drink, and don't have any plans to go anywhere for dinner then it's worth booking on the club level. We ate dinner and had champagne and cocktails in the lounge that evening.

Peninsula BH: Upgrade to Grand Deluxe from Standard

Trump Int. NY: Upgrade to 1 Bedroom Suite from Standard

Battery Park: Great Room Facing Statue of Liberty from Standard

Essex House St. Regis Club: 1 Bedroom Suite from Standard

I always book "Standard" which is the cheapest rate and usually get a great room.

Bellagio Las Vegas:

-Upgraded to new Spa Tower with Partial Fountain view. Had to call down as normally get one of the corner Saloon suites. They told me the fountain view was the upgrade. That said, it's nice not having to go through the casino.

-Two passes to use the Spa Gym. Great for me as it is normally $25. Combine that with treatments one day, meant I could use the gym for free the whole time (and it's a verrrrry nice gym with fab locker room!)

-Continental breakfast every day, which converts to a $10 (I think, don't quote me) credit per day.

-Fruit basket delivered during stay. In the past, we've received a $50 gift certificate and Andrea Bocelli cd's.

All this for $145 a night! ^ ^ ^
