Feb 9th,
This morning, got up, check'd in online for both flights and headed to MDW. Went thru security, got my Starbucks and breakfast sandwich at Potbelly's and headed to th gate. Flight did depart on time, and its was partly full. I got a whole E+ row to myself (did pay for the upgrade). The pilot was nice, I noticed he ran out of the plane a few minutes before take-off and bought some starbucks for the FAs and himself. Flight was quiet, smooth. Arrived ontime into DEN. Nice flight, very clean. The FAs came around many times with the trash bags to get al the garbage. Really good on their part, made it a much cleaner plane.
I called up MP when I got to DEN and asked em if they could put me on 2P, even though I didnt have enough EQM, but my next few days of flying goes way over that. They did it without a problem. Then I called up the Reserv desk and had em switch all my seats to E+. No problems. Im just in the Delta lounge as I dont got the RCC access Im thinking about buying access, but I got my AMex Plat and PPass. Next flight at 1037AM!
Feb 9th afternoon
I went to the gate to go from DEN-MDW. I was in the Delta lounge, printed off my BP, checked email, and took care of some business. TED departs from A concourse. When I boarded, I was in Row 9. We took off a few minutes late, but did land a few minutes ahead of schedule. Crew were nice, seats were OK, theough there was a lingering smell on the plane for the 1/2 the flight. One peron tried to sneak into a E+ seat, and the FA didnt let her sit up front, and sent her back to her seat. I think it was good and bad, good that they are pushing selling the E+ or by status, but kinda bad cause that row was empty, most of e+ was empty. I think 9 or 10 people in the E+ total.
Arrived at MDW
I deboarded, went to the food court, grabbed a taco dinner, and headed back to the same gate I came from. Had 20min to spare, made a few calls, relaxed. Went on the plane, and got a exit row window seat. Took off a few min late, and landed again a few minutes early. TED must love my lying. I watched the TEDevision and read my anatomy a bit.
Arrived at DEN, went to the flight board to see my flight back to MDW departs at 900PM!!!! Im a bit pissed as by the time I get to MDW, drive home, Ill take a shower, and grab the Powerplug and head back to the airport.
Next question: Should I wait at the gate from the time I was scheduled to depart, or can I safely assume it wont depart sooner? Usually they dont delay the flights until closer to boarding time.
Oh well, Im in the Delta lounge, once again thinking about buying the RCC, which I might end up doing, but both RCCs are in B concourse, and I fly out of A.
Feb 09th - Feb 10th
The plane did depart at 9PM, and by the time we landed it was 1215AM There were only 25 people on board, so again I got a whole e+ row and slept. Funny little story. A FA was drinking water and a pax asked her if on the TED flight if there was a coat closet. She laugh'd real hard, almost choking. She did reply to the pax, sorry TED doesnt have any closets. I found it quite funny cause I know how TED is RARRRR! By the time i got home, showered, I was able to get 2.5hrs of sleep before my next flight.
Feb 10th
Got up and did online checkin. If anyone else noticed there is a MAX of 5,000 miles for the online checkin. Went to MDW, took 5min to go thru security, and went to the gate. I got my asile on Row 8 and slept again (though it wasnt a empty row) Same flight crew as yesterday. Departed and arived ontime.
Now im just sitting in the CO lounge, relaxing a bit before my next flight. So much flying, so little time.
Feb 10th
Well the flight to MDW left a tad late, arrived a TED late but it didnt affect me since the plane I was on is the same one used for the return. The cabin was mostly empty, i got my row to sleep in again. Good thing I like to sleep. Back to DEN, it was packed. I was disappointed that the E+ middle next to me was occupied. Didnt get any sleep. Back in the Delta lounge, printed off my BP for the 724PM flight. It looks like it will be on time back home, which I could maybe by some chance get some sleep.
Feb 10 update
Once again my flight is delayed. 840pm now. Im never gunna get a goods night sleep. TED is starting to piss me off. RARRRRRRRRRRRRR! Where is the plane comming from?
We left at 9pm, back in MDW at 12am, and back home and in bed at 2am, up again at 4am, to the airport by 515am, already got my BPs printed off.
Feb 11th
Got to MDW, 5min thru the security, went to get my very, very, very large Starbucks. 5hrs of home sleep in 2 days. ahh! As usual, 5min before boarding I went up to the GA, and got a new seat assignment in a empty E+ row. And as usual, the morning plane was empty. Same flight crew as yesterdays early afternoon flight back to MDW from DEN. I made my bed and got a bit of sleep. Got into DEN 15min ahead of schedule, a first for TED. Went to the Delta lounge where im posting now.
One thing I did notice is that there sure are a lot of Southwest pilots flying on TED. Today there were two heading to DEN, yesteday one from DEN to MDW and I think one from MDW. Hmm, well I see that SW pilots REALLY know which airline is better to fly And yeah, in DEN there are ALOT of United banners all over, from the Denver promo, to United kiosks doing the MP visa, to united having all of Concourse B to the SW bashing posters, banners. I do like those. I think SW wont get DEN as their hub.
Well, going to go eat, finish up at the lounge, and go to MDW and back to DEN.
Feb 11th Cont.
The flight from DEN to MDW was as usual, mostly empty. Left a few min late, arrived a few minutes late. Nothing really to speak about. The flight though from MDW to DEN well thats a different story. It was snowing quite heavy in MDW, so we got the plane de-iced. When the copilot went to check, he wasnt happy, so we went back to the gate and had it de-iced again. This set us back over an hour. The crew was the usual crew I had before last night from DEN to MDW. There was at least 1 FT'er on board. You know who you are in Row 1 talking about the Denver promo. I was the one who looked up the gate in which we were supposed to be in. It was a nice flight, not as full as usual. Afterwards, I met up with a FT'er in DEN and grabbed a coffee and a snack before we headed back to our final stops for the night. The 640pm flight back to MDW was actually ontime tonight, which put me back in MDW by 11pmish and home by 1145pm. One somewhat good night of sleep is in order. Well, after I pack for the skiing
3 DAYS DOWN, 1 TO GO!
Feb 12th
Well, its Sunday. Left the house same time as always, 5min thru security. I bought a few boxes of chocolates to give to the FAs today (so if your a FA, you should get a nice yummy box of Godiva truffles). The GA already knows me by name, and same goes for most of the FAs. The flight from MDW-DEN had 31 pax. I was in my row 3,with noone around me. I grabbed 5 or 6 pillows, a few blankets and made my morning bed Got to DEN 10min ahead of schedule. The FAs were really grateful for the chocolates, i got my own bottle of H2O.
I noticed as I was walking to the CO club that they were handing out balloons to the kids and putting em up on the TED gates.
TED Like You
TED Wants to Give You a Balloon
RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Just sitting in the lounge, relaxing, eating breakfast, and 1037 got the flight back to MDW.
Feb 12th Cont
Went to the gate, boarding already started. The GA wasnt the nicest, but she did help me. Got my full row again and slept. Now at Harry Caray's at MDW eating and waiting for the 505pm flight. I hope it will be another light flight. Ill catch up on my Lost few episodes im behind. Last flight for these insane 4 dyas, and my 16th and final is Thurs return.
Flight to DEN was nice. The FAs really enjoyed the chocolates. The purser even told me that its people like me that make their day. And it was very sweet of me to do that. I told em its crew like you that make me stay with United. It was a TED moment
Got some sleep, and skiing for the next few days, and thurs last flight!
Was it worth it?
Yes
Would I do it again?
Yes
Would I do 4 days in a row?
Never! (but 2 days, a day break and the next 2 days, yes)
Feb 16th
Flight from DEN to MDW is delayed, as usual. Aircraft being delayed.
Oh well. Last flight. Flight was a lot fuller than usual. Im guessing reroutings.
I just relaxed. Plane landed at 1130pmish at MDW. No real problems.
Last credits posted 2 weeks later and for people wondering if the redemption is instant....YES. As soon as I clicked the 90,000miles and hit OK, they were posted in my account.

Wow, that is just insane! I bet for the same price you could book a ticket to SIN, BKK or HKG - get the same amount of miles, spend less total travel time and spend a day in one of these great cities....

umm... this run will net well over 120k miles with the current promo, so I doubt you could come anywhere near that with an international run. The current Denver promo is pretty hard to beat.

I have not run the math, but a person that is a 1P or higher and does all of the requisite online check-in procedures, is guaranteed no fewer than 120,000 miles by the end of the promotion.

Let's call it 110K RDMs for $1200. Not too shabby... could do better with Ameniti or Visa, but he's getting EQMs as well and enjoying the beautiful weather here in DEN (sort of) and also doing something insane (which is worth a lot of points in my book).

The reson why im doing this is the Denver promo. I would use that amount I paid to go to Asia 2x, but I would never get the 90K bonus, booking online, online checkin (I do checkin on my return in the Delta lounge and they are nice enough to let me use their printer, which has infra-red and I checkin and print it off in the conference rooms. That is why I was thinking of getting a RCC membership, but $400 is a lot to spend, incl since I got the PPass.
I am now 2P. The MP desk supervisor thank'd me for flying a lot on United and he looked at my future flights and saw my 4 days of flying and back to Europe. So ill earn the 25% bonus, and I got my E+ seats. Overall, on an empty flight, I like the front E+ (if the row is empty) I was able to stretch out (actually lay down across) and makeshift a bed and get some sleep. I sat in the exit (Row 10) from MDW-DEN just now, and it was a bit tight when the row is full. Great legroom, though...
Back to the Log.

The weather in DEN oddly is nicer than it was the past few days in Chicago. I was visiting a lot of sites in Chicago with a friend from euope, and it was under 32F, and windy.

Also, does anyone know if the RCCs in DEN have a printer I could use? I would hate to leave the lounge, and use up another visit on my PPass
Also I was thinking. If the supervisor gave me 2P, was that a once-in-lifetime comp? He never mentioned anything.

DEN is considered the desert because of how little precipitation it gets since the mountains shelter all of the pacific rains/snow. They also block a lot of the cold air from ever reaching DEN. Most of the weather we get comes from the SE - Gulf Coast air - which keeps things relatively mild, even in winter.
Now, that is not to say that we don't get bad weather on occasion - everywhere does! But I am always surprised when people think that the weather in Denver is worse than Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, upstate NY, WAS... PHX and Austin are better in the winter, but too hot for my taste in the summer... SAN is about perfect, except for the humidity...
Really, I think if you want 4 seasons, DEN is the best you'll find in the country - but that's just my humble opinion!

Question: I got 2P status, but when they print out my BP, it doesnt show. They did delete/reenter my flight, but no luck Any ideas what to do?
