Friday night:
8pm Gostilna SOKOL
Ciril Metodov trg 18
Phone: +386 (0)1 439 68 55
Gostilna Sokol is reputed to be one of the oldest restaurants in Ljubljana. Situated a stone’s throw away from the market place, in its day the ground floor would stable the horses of the farmers and merchants who traded at the market, while the traders themselves would sleep in the upper levels. Today it is a busy and atmospheric restaurant offering a wide variety of traditional fare. The waiters dress in decorative and traditional outfits, and are very personable. This restaurant is frequented by locals and tourists alike.
The choice here is very wide, and offers welcome options for the vegetarian as well as the more traditional meat-based dishes of the area.
Saturday:
LJU-Tour with Borut* at Ljubljana meeting 10h00 in the LEV Hotel Lobby
8pm JB Restavracija, Miklošičeva 17
a top chef here who studied under some famous french chefs but is enamored with all things Slovene. The "JB" restaurant is a special culinary challenge for Slovene and foreign guests, for business people and for tourists also. There are many reasons for this, as such:
With it's inner ambiental culture and neatness the restaurant creates a harmonious atmosphere and a unity with the outer image of the surrounding which it is located in.
*my local friend, I told him we'd pay for his saturday dinner, as thank you for sharing the day with us, hope its ok for everybody

Even if it is the 28th though I might make it... being out of the country for my 21st does sort of defeat the purpose.
So what's the best Starwood in Ljubljana, Chris?

We have decided that the Hotel Lev will be the central hotel for this DO:
http://www.hotel-lev.si/eng_index.html
The dates that you propose Chris will be fine then.

As posted on the game thread count me as a maybe.
For *A folk, LJU is a good place to start a RTW from - quite cheap and easy to get to via the hubs in FRA and VIE and MUC.

The game doesn't bite, unless of course you are into that sort of thing.

The trip is all about Ljublana for me! I'm not traveling half way around the world to sit in a line of FTers, all with laptops out, posting messages to each other. (I saw the picture. )
Here's why I want to go to Ljublana:
From BUDGET TRAVEL:
"Will the next Prague please stand up?"
"Austrian precision meets Italian style in the capital of Slovenia, the fomer Yugoslav republic that hosts a vibrant arts scene. Ljubjana owes much of its charm to the early 20th-century architect Joze Plecnik, who redesigned the city center, building the ethereal white Triple Bridge and the marble embankment of the Ljubljanica Rier. Wander the narrow streets on both sides of the river, but don't go too far. The town is tiny."
Ljublana sounds delightful!
