Angry No more first class NH008 and NH007 NRT- SFO from Jul 1

I wanted to reserve NH008 on Dec 23 2006. But no first on NH008 and NH007 from Jul 1. Why?

Looks like they will be using a 777-200 with seating for 59 in Club ANA and 233 in economy.

This is the 777 that they currently use NRT-PVG/BKK/SIN.

Guess F loads are not good?

The seat maps for 777s used in September (look at NRT-SFO on 12 September) differ from those of 777 used on NRT-PVG. New layout shows 15 rows in business class with rows 1 and 2 only having 4 seats per row. Total of 85 seats in Business class. I tried to book seats in row one or two on flight SFO-NRT and return NRT-SFO; ANA seatmaps showed availability on both flights but when I tried to book with telephone agent for award ticked I was told row 1 and 2 was not available. I assume the new 777-200 will have a configuration we have never seen before.

Another interesting point is the seatmaps have not been changed for many of the flights and old configuration is still showing on many flights between SFO-NRT after July 1.

Aren't the intra-Asian planes 777-200s? They don't have the range to cross the Pacific.

ANA is flying brand new 772ER to SFO this year in rotation with 773ER. The new 772ER will have new configuration.

New 772ER configuration judging from the Seat map on 23DEC06:

C70W36Y117

Club ANA: Row 1-10, 2-3-2
Premium Economy: Row 15-19, 2-4-2
Economy: Row 24-37, 3-3-3

I booked two first class from SFO to NRT last year for the coming July fight using Aeroplan miles. At least they have not notify me they are going to take away my F.
Maybe they have not updated their seatplan for flight after July.
I remember last year before they introduce the NEW first class seat for LAX & NRT, their seatplan was not updated too.

If you are concerned, call today! My wife was left unprotected on an award ticket on NRT-BKK after and equipment change.

Looks like you all may be on to something here.

In reference to the cygone's comment on Sept 12:
I made dummy bookings for both C and Y.
The seat map is a perfect match for that of the 777-300.
Row 1 and 2 (4 F seats across) 8 seats
Row 3 thru 16 (2-3-2 business) 77 seats
Row 17 thru 19 (2-4-2 Premium Y)
Row 22 thru 37 (9 across except row 37)

I tried to book F on this flight, UA code shares come up with F, however NH 008 shows "Cabin Class: Business" and row 1 and 2 which are suites on the 777-300 are displayed.

In reference to jiml1126's comment regarding the Dec 26:

I also found this map on July 6.
70 seats (10 rows of 7 across) in business.
36 seats (4 rows of plus middle section of 4 seats) in premium economy
117 seats in Y (3-3-3, transitioning to 2-3-2 in the tail)

This 777 seatmap does not correspond to any existing configuration in the fleet.

The 777-200 currently flying intra-asia sports 61 seats in business with 2 seats unsold for 59.
The current 777-200ER flying SFO-NRT sports 63 seats in business less 1 crew rest seat for 62 available. Of course 12 in F as well.
The 777-300 as I detailed above has 77 seats in C plus 8 suites for a total of 85.

Thus it is a brand new configuration.

jiml1126: what leads you to believe that this is a new aircraft as opposed to just a retrofit? The Japanese discussion on airtariff.com?

Based on ANA press release earlier this year on FY2006 Strategy plan, SFO will be getting "New Style Configuration" from July 2006 on 777-200ER while the airline is receive 3 brand new ones (772ER) this year as well.

I would pretty much incline to believe this will be brand new aircraft, despite reading the discussion on airtariff.com.

Shoflyer,
I agree with you layout on some flights looks like 777-300, my dummy reservation at ANA site showed seats in row 1 and 2 available yet when I tried to book them for business class reservation I was told the seats were not available. If I was buying ticket on line however I could have booked them (I think). At least I could have reserved them.

Also noticed ANA is using 747-400 on LAX-NRT new configuration for September 12.

You may have been able to "request" them online. That is different than actually flying them.

Another thing I noticed poking around on the Japanese site was that for instance, on July 1 returning July 4, you are presented with Normal Fare and Biz Wari options. I do not think it is a coincidence that the Bizwari fares show all 12 seats in rows 1 and 2 as taken/blocked. Meanwhile booking normal Fare shows availability in all of row 2 (row 1 blocked for Elites and VIPs as usual.)The fare difference is 100,000 yen.

Funny that on the English side of ana.co.jp, Normal fare doesn't even up come as an option.

I had not taken note that the fleet plan called for additional 772ER's this year. Makes sense to me that the new config would be a new aircraft especially considering that the older 3-class configured 772ERs seem to be surfacing here and there on the BKK route. (I have not looked extensively into this side of the story yet).
