[DEAL GONE] $40/nt Priceline Deal for La Quinta Resort (Palm Springs/La Quinta, CA)

I'm not sure if this deal is dead yet (I don't have much use for it at this point, so I haven't tried myself) as it was first discovered Saturday night, but as per these three posts on BFT:

http://p070.ezboard.com/fpricelinean...icID=772.topic

http://p070.ezboard.com/fpricelinean...icID=770.topic

http://p070.ezboard.com/fpricelinean...icID=771.topic

...over the past couple days, people have been having great success scoring the La Quinta Resort and Club for a bid of $40 on Priceline for certain dates in March through June of 2007. Best Hilton.com rates for most/all of these dates are over $400/nt.

My apologies to the mods if this is not the correct forum in which to post such a deal...

UPDATE: Apparently this deal can be had for $25 (!) on certain dates instead of the already unbelievably cheap $40. Priceline will not accept any bid below $40 when one has selected to bid for Resort-level hotels, regardless of the Priceline rate the property has loaded. However, the minimum bid that Priceline will accept for a 3* hotel is $25, and if a Resort has loaded a $25 rate, Priceline will upgrade a $25 bid for 3* to a Resort property. So what you'll want to try to do is bid for 3* in the "Rancho Mirage-Indian Wells-Palm Desert" zone, and with luck your bid will be accepted and upgraded to La Quinta Resort and Club. Successful bids have been reported from February through June 2007.

Wow, what a vacation spot! Hilton is taking over the property, so people with HH status might even get extra perks.

The property is accepting $25/night bids...you must bid for the 3 star category in order to get this, as $40 is the priceline mandated minimum for "resort" and priceline will automatically upgrade you if possible. People were originally bidding $40 for the resort category before it was reported that $25 worked (but not if you specified resort).

Bid $25/night 3 star for dates begining Feb 07 in the Palm Desert/Indian Wells zone....

Not free, but an exceptional value for $400/night accomadation!

$25 plus around $6/night in PL fees plus $20 resort fee = $51/night!

Use ebates for an additional 2% back.

I don't think the deal is dead...

I don't think so. 2 minutes ago I booked La Quinta for $40 for the weekend of April 28th. Earlier this morning I booked 3 nights, 3/31 - 4/3 of 2007 also for $40.00. A friend of mine got the following week 4/9-4/12 of 2007 for $40 per night.

I almost booked, but then read all the horrible reviews on Trip advisor and reconsidered!

I know it sometimes gets bad reviews but I love the place. I have willingly paid over $300 to stay there so at $40 a night, it's more than a steal.

Much more enjoyable if you avoid spring break dates (for those of us over 30, of course)

I'm well over 30 and have gone every Easter for many years. La Quinta is a family resort and is definitely not overrun with partying college students on Spring Break. You will, however, find lots of families (over 30 for the most part) with kids.

I just got 4 nts late-April for $40/nt. Now I'm just sitting here wondering if I should extend my stay. Hmmmm...

BTW, I started w/ $38, then $39. I guess $40 is the magic number.

Thank you for posting, senoreit.

This resort is very well located for those headed to the Coachella Festival next year.

Edit: Couldn't resist and jumped in for the last weekend of April. Thanks to the OP!

I have been sitting here wondering if I could have gotten the room for a couple of dollars less. It's good to know I got the rock bottom price! I love to play the $1 raise game with Priceline until I get accepted, but on this offer I just jumped at the $40 without trying to undercut it.
