New service to Rome from IAD starting 4/1/07

On page A21 in today's Washington Post is a full-page ad announcing "Fly nonstop to the Eternal City from the Capital City." According to the ad, there will be "Daily nonstop flights to Rome" from April 1, 2007. No info on the equipment on the route. No announcement on Ual.com so far as I can tell.

EXCELLENT!

^ ^ ^ to United!

This day is starting off well, first the new website and now service to Italy. I am one happy camper!

Edited to add:

Please God not a 767 (or a 757, God forbid).

I sincerely hope that it is not a joke and the date is just a pure coincidence ...
Otherwise, I hope it'll mark the turnaround and start of UA european revival.
Good news. ^

It will be a 777. Schedule is as follows:

UA 966 IAD 6:16pm FCO 8:50am+ 777
UA 967 FCO 10:55am IAD 2:40pm 777

Probably helped by the fact that AZ is pulling out of IAD-MXP.

It's a 777XP. The schedule is now loaded and the flights are available for sale (has been loaded into the GDSes).

These are my feelings exactly...and I will even settle for a 767! I can only hope that the arrival time will be later than UA's flight to BRU...I am getting tired of arriving in the dark and dragging myself to a hotel with hopes of an early checkin(8 am)!!!

How does 8:50am arrival into Rome sound?

Nice! I was sad to see IAD-MXP go, back in the day, and am quite happy that Italy is back!

Ooh, pricey.
$1650 for a V fare, $2040 for an H fare, in late May.

I'm surprised they didn't fly to MXP before FCO... It seems like they're going for the leisure traveller over the business traveller.

Oh, and where is THAT 777 coming from?

No idea - the complexities of fleet planning make this question hard to answer.
