TSA to allow advertising at checkpoints

On another list, someone quipped that this is the real reason for the long security lines. That aside, I thought perhaps the most interesting part of this was the glimpse at the bureaucratic technical jargon that has now emerged for mundane airport security paraphernalia. Those trays are apparently called "divestiture bins", from which we can retrieve our stuff while at the "composure tables". I don't usually feel very composed after going through a long security line, so this will be an improvement.
Maybe at least they'll make the divestiture tables the same height as the xray machines if this happens.

While I'm sure there would be counter arguments about 'distracting pax from security' and that in some cases airport operators might not be subject to this sort of requirement (I think both claims would be wrong)... the TSA can't legally discriminate in their selection of ads based on content under existing first amendment law.
This would be a wonderful opportunity for some anti-TSA ads...

... is wrong with us? Have we succumbed to the mindless advertising on TV that now we have to have ads in the gray bins we place our stuff in?
I can't wait to see the first as for SHAMPOO in a divestiture bin but only in a bottle of 3 oz or less.
We are a F#*KED up nation if we allow this crap to continue to happen.
STOP PLAYING US FOR FOOLS !!

Just as soon as they can agree on a licensing fee to become "The official sportwear provider to the TSA". Anything to help offset the costs of maintaining the front lines in the war on terror!
