How do you ID your black luggage

My black luggage looks just about like all the other black luggage. How do you mark your luggage so you can easily find it and so somebody else won't take yours?

No one can overstuff a bag like I can - my bags are very easy to spot - even if there are 50 identical ones on the belt.

At a travel store, I bought a bright blue luggage strap, which goes around the body of the bag and which can be snapped together under the handle. I have only seen a handful of these in the past few years, so it reduces the number of bags I have to view on the luggage carousels.

Easy and cheap. Just put colored masking tape prominently on all sides of the bag. Easy to spot coming down the belt. Just don't use blue--that's what I use and we may be on the same flight next time.

You can get one with a TSA lock on it. Brookstone has these for $15, IIRC. Like the combo locks on bags, it will probably only deter the most casual thievies, but it's something.

These are great for hard sheel bags (Samsonite Oyster, etc.) I'm always worried that mine will explode; the strap makes me worry less.

One thing: make sure the straps are TIGHT. If they are not, they'll get caught on corners, etc. and bad things could happen.

I've found this really is the best way to differentiate my TravelPro luggage from all the others. It's easy to spot from quite a distance too.

I've got 101 Dalmation stickers on all the hard surfaces of both my checked bag & rollaboard (don't ask why 101 Dalmations-it was the best I could find when I did this the first time). Not that it made much difference when I landed in SFO last year & had not 1, but TWO different people try to claim my bag off the belt before it got to me. The first girl who tried to claim it told her BF that she knew it (my bag) was hers because 'it's red & has a lock on it'-I guess she must have thought the airplane elves stuck all the stickers on it while it was in flight

I have black Tumi luggage, just like about 50% of the people flying (or so it seems). I try to avoid checking bags, but when I can't I use a brightly colored luggage strap -- works fine.
