Delta Forum Lounge™ DO - CVG - June 1-3 2007

The Delta Forum Lounge™ DO

bringing the virtual to reality...

_______________________________________________

It is my absolute pleasure to announce this chance for a gathering of friends both new and old to make our virtual lounge a reality. If you've ever posted in the lounge, stopped by for a quick drink or even just peeked in the window to see what craziness goes on in there, consider yourself invited to what I hope will be a wonderful gathering.

The events outlined here today is just that, an outline, and for now are subject to change at any time. I have tried to make as many things as possible concrete, but some aspects are still in the planning stage. I invite you to offer any suggestions at any time and thank you so much to all who have offered me such noble guidance as this was put together. Special thanks goes out to those at Delta who have made this possible - Joe, Jeff, Joan and everyone else who has and will have a hand in this from the Delta end. We look forward to meeting all of you and celebrating not only the defeat of US, but by the time we meet, the successful emergence as a standalone airline. We are humbled.

The events:

Friday, June 1 - Unfortunately, FlightSafety has backed out on us. They feel FAA certification week takes precedence over a few slack-jawed gawkers being impressed by all the pretty lights and buttons. So, I say we meet at the Marriott bar that evening for drinks.

Saturday, June 2nd - Delta Behind the Scenes - 11am - main ticket counter

The plan is, we need to meet at the main ticket counter at 11am, Saturday the 2nd. We will be lead by the lead ticket agent into the nether regions of the airport, where the tour will begin. The plan so far is to see ramp operations and luggage handling facilities, but this is not typical for them, so there is no set format. Basically, they have a few places they'd like to show us, but it will be in part up to us to lead them, in a sense, if you get what I mean.

This could be followed by lunch at Gold Star Chili, 2100 Medical Arts Dr, Hebron, KY. This is just down the road from the airport. As an alternative, we could spend the day in Cincinnati, which would lead right into our evening dinner at..

Montgomery Inn at the Boathouse - on the Ohio River, downtown Cincinnati. Time - 7PM

Then on to Mt. Adams and a pint or two at Crowley's, Cinci's oldest Irish pub, and the famous view from Holy Cross - Immaculata Church.

Sunday, June 3rd - The Lounge™ takes it to the lounge!!

We will have Sunday brunch in the BusinessElite lounge in CVG from 10:30am until 1:30pm. Delta has graciously offered to open the BizE lounge just for us as a sign of appreciation. This event will be catered. A menu will follow shortly. The cost for this brunch will be $20/ppn. No deposit required. Please be prepared to pay that day.

We (meaning us in Flyertalk) chose Sunday brunch as it seemed the most logical option that fits into not only Delta's schedule, as we get the whole room to ourselves, but into the schedules of most attendees, as you are already in the airport and well fed for your flight home. The issue this rises is, what if you're not flying that day? Well, we though of that, too, and Delta will arrange gate passes for those not ticketed for Sunday.

I hope to see as many people as possible, whether Delta is your airline or not. The Delta Forum Lounge™ is a place for friends to meet online, now let's make it a reality!!

Oh, one last thing. Please e-mail all correspondence regarding this to: DeltaLoungeDO *at* gmail *dot* com. Please include your Flyertalk username when you do! Thanks!!!

Sorry, we won't make it. Mrs. Gargoyle and I are booked on the inaugural DL JFK-PSA flight on May 31st. But we'll be thinking of you as we sip our limoncellos and drink Brunello in the Tuscan sun.

Gargoyle, I knew of your conflict. As I said in the Lounge™, you have no idea how hard a decision it was to make. I'm very sad we will not see you there

No problem. May this be the start of an annual event (different hubs each year).

Count Mrs. Cholula and I as definites.

And we've already scored a pair of FC DL award tickets from the Left Coast.

We'd both be very interested in the Flight Safety tour on Friday AM as well.

Put me down on the definite list.

I know what my schedule is the week after but not the week before at this point.
