Can I transfer AA miles to my HHonors points from AA of my parents account

I had a question if I can transfer my mother's 15000 AA miles to my HHonors account? I know I have to pay the $25 transaction fee.

Thanks!!

You also posted the same question on Hilton forum. Not a good idea.

Interestingly, he got a completely different answer on the Hilton forum. They told him it couldn't be done and recommended that he transfer to her hilton account and then pay hilton a per point transfer fee.

Has anyone actually done this? I'm tempted to try it just to see if it works.

That's what happens when you post on different forums - you get different answers.

How much of a devaluation of points occurs with this exchange?

The link below from this or another forum provides all of the mileage converter options.

General rule of thumb: transferring from any loyalty program to any other loyalty program will give you a terrible exchange rate no matter which way you go.

Granted, there are exceptions (transferring Starwood points to FF programs is pretty good and under the right scenario you can do well with Marriott, as well), but that's the general situation.

Really hard to make an apples to apples comparison here as the scales are very different. The amount of the devaluation really depends on how valuable you think an AA mile is relative to an HHonors point.

One comparison you can make is how much you can earn on a credit card. Amex HH gives 3 pts/$, Amex SPG gives effectively 1.25 mi/$ for a 2.4x ratio. Citi HH gives 2 pts/$, Citi AA gives 1 mi/$. This ratio is 2x. But really, it depends on personal preferences.
