Interlining in SIN

I'm flying UA to SIN, then a short overnight in the terminal before traveling onward on a separate ticket on Garuda to CGK. Does UA interline baggage to Garuda if it's a separate record? Can they issue a boarding pass?

Thanks for the wisdom.

PS: For extra points... are there any US airlines on which I can earn miles for Garuda flights?

Ok, thanks. You get the extra points. And I get more magazine subscriptions.

But the main question....??

Come on... I know this isn't as interesting as talking about peeking at others' BPs, but someone must know something... (thanks!)

You will need to get your boarding pass at the transfer desk in SIN. It should not be a problem at all. The staffs at SIN transfer desk are always friendly and helpful.

Regarding lack of response to the interlining baggage question, it is likely not many FTers have interlined between Garuda and United. All it takes is a phone call to United to find out.

I personally have only interlined between SQ and UA at SIN, and they have been seamless in each direction.

Why not fly SQ to CGK?

I have only flown SQ into CGK and never have had any issues.

When I've flown through BKK they (UA and China Airlines come to mind) would only interline the bag if the layover is less than a set number of hours. I don't remember exactly how many, but I've run afoul of it without overnighting there. Maybe 8 hours?

UA does interline at SIN, even if you hold a separate ticket on a different airline. But if your Garuda flight is a certain number of hours after your United arrival (I'm not sure how many hours that is), they won't interline. We've had bags interlined from UA to SQ, even with a seven-hour layover.

UA can't check you in for your Garuda flight. There are connections desks in all of the terminals. At the Terminal 1 C Concourse (where the United flights arrive), there is a connection desk on your right as you leave the gate area. If your flight is leaving soon after you arrive in SIN, you can also go to the gate your Garuda flight is departing from.

If the worst case occurs (long layover, departure gate not open yet, no Garuda agents available in the airside area), you'll have to go through Immigration to the landside ticketing desks. WORD OF WARNING: If you can't get a boarding pass until morning, don't leave airside until the landside ticketing desks are open. You won't be able to get back through security unless you have a boarding pass.

thanks all. this is very helpful. for the record, i tried to connect to Singapore Air for the flight to CGK, but it was fairly full and a lot more expensive. So I'll take my chance with Garuda, and with navigating the nuances of transiting SIN. Thanks!

I am interested in knowing this too. Let me know the result of your flying. Coz, usually I didn't check-in baggage just for the reason - UA arrving SIN at 11:52PM, and the next flight won't be until after 7A. So, i check-in the transit hotel and have a little rest and get a boarding pass in the Transfer Desk to CGK.
