BOS to KBP and using AA miles to upgrade and earning AA miles
Flying BOS to KBP and I would like to use AA miles (if at all possible) to upgrade flight. I don't think AA miles can be used on BA going to LON however if LON is a stop over and final destination is the Ukraine, is it possible?
Also if flying on BA on this route can I earn AA miles or BA miles only?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated - thanks
I will cross post in OneWorld forum - hope that's okay

You won't be earning AA miles for the TATL (transatlantic sector) unless you fly it on AA. If on BA, no miles at all and just a few miles for the LON-KBP. I don't know if AA codeshares to KBP, if it does than getting on the codeshare will earn you miles as if the flight was operated by AA. I would also check if KBP is operated from LHR and not LGW cuz the transfer is not convenient.
You won't be able to use AA miles to upgrade BA in any case. Apart from BA miles you could use AsiaMiles, I guess that's it.

You can fly BA and earn AA miles if you depart from Canada. That option might be worthwhile if it will earn you sufficient miles for a high value AA award.

that's over 2k miles extension! nice MR!
But an extra connection is required as I doubt RJ flies from BOS.
