Choice Hotels - New sign up promo. 2 Free nights. August 16, 2007 cutoff

Choice Hotels will give you 2 free nights (read the fine print) after you spend $150 on their credit card.

That is double their standard bonus.

The hotel stays are of varying use depending on availability of other options including Priceline (where I could generally get a better deal) but 16,000 Choice Privilege points converts to 3,000 miles (5,000 points --> 1,000 miles with 1,000 points breakage) in a few different airline plans. The ratio isn't particularly attractive for most of the domestic airlines; it would take $2,500 credit card spend to get 1,000 miles.

Still, I'm wondering if it's worth it as a way to keep my Aeroplan miles active. Choice Priviliege points earned this year expire on 12/31/09 and Aeroplan requires activity once yearly or the points expire. Doing a points transfer in '08 and again in '09 might make sense?

Choice has hotels in the middle of nowhere. I can't say that for the chains. With redemption rates as low as 6000 points, I've managed to save $50-$60 per redemption, in the 'salesman' type on the road motels.

The Choice Hotel cc promo last year was 24,000 points.

Not a bad deal. It's true that they have very few hotels that offer hotel nights for 8,000 points; however, combined with the 32K points that I already have will yield me two nights in decent location.

There's still time to sign up for this deal.

16,000 Points???

I applied for this card, received the card, and used the card for my $150 in purchases. The points did not post, and Choice Rewards, and Visa are saying this promotion never existed. When I click on the links provided in the old posts they go to their most current promotion which is 8,000 points. Can anyone get me the promotion code for this or the link which originally went to this offer so I can argue with Choice and Visa for my $16,000 points? Thanks so much!!!

I'm sorry that I can't give you the 'old' link; but Bank of America definitely offered the credit card; with 16K points after $150 purchase within 75 days, no annual fee. I joined Choice Privileges 5/21; enrolled in the card in July '07, made the required $150 purchase in the first billing cycle and received my 16K after the first statement in August (actually dated 7/28/07). I have received points credits to the plan whenever I use the BOA credit card...so it's still active. If it's any help, it was offered at the same time as the 'free $50 gas card' after 3 separate stays (July of 2007)...hang in there, and keep working for the points...
