LH email survey - new economy sleeper seats
Just got an email from LH, asking me about taking part in their survey. It appears to be aimed at overnight intercontinental flights, specifically mentioned was FRA-SIN-FRA and FRA-JNB-FRA.
This is one of the question I found interesting:
what do you think? depends on the price probably, right?
This is one of the question I found interesting:
To increase the travel comfort on intercontinental night flights, Lufthansa is thinking about a separate sleeping area within Economy Class. There, you would have the possibility to sleep in beds with an angle of 180° (Full Flat). This option could be booked instead of a seat.
In the future, when booking a night flight with Lufthansa from Johannesburg to Frankfurt, would you generally be interested in booking into the sleeping area instead of a seat in Economy Class?

Maybe these pax can use the crew rest, while the FAs will be forced to sleep in those E- seats.

Exactly, it's convertible bunk beds, for a planned surcharge about 200 EUR over default economy. This came out at the end of the survey. Each of the bunk beds would have personal IFE, and an amenity kit with a water bottle. Catering would be self-service, seats would be converted into bunk beds after take off and seatbelt sign switched off.

I didn't make screenshot of that. Basically the middle "bed" can be folded to form a backrest, and there are four people sitting on the bottom bed during take-off and landing, no armrests, just safety belts.

I would book it in an instant. I don't care how crowded the sleeping area is - if I can actually lie down, I'll sleep like a baby. This would be 200€ I would gladly invest.
The only drawback I see is that this will only really work well on "double-overnight" routes. If one of your flights is during the day, there's a fairly big risk that those beds will go empty on one of the sectors.
Though I could also deal with spending a day flight lying in bed and reading. I wouldn't pay extra for it though.
4 people? Where is the 4th person coming from? The beds in the middle?
