Fares on Virgin America

Cheapest September/October fares (VX from website, UA from ITA)

SFO-LAS: VX $109, UA $109
SFO-LAX: VX $109, UA $205
SFO-JFK: VX $299, UA $379
SFO-IAD: VX $279, UA $499

LAX-JFK: VX $299, UA $379
LAX-IAD: VX $279, UA $429

Finally some decent competition on IAD transcons.

I wonder if UA will price match.

Not sure if this really belongs in this forum, but are they selling VX fares? When are those routes scheduled to begin .... I need to be get to CA for the CNZ fare and it'd be a great opportunity to try out the service (since I'm set for qualification this year already)

Well VX is starting up service at SFO, LAX, and IAD, which are all UA hubs. They started selling tickets less than 3 hours ago.

SFO-LAX and SFO-JFK 8/8
LAX-JFK 8/29
SFO-IAD 9/26
SFO-LAS 10/10
LAX-IAD 10/24

Maybe this is who UA should merge with.

VX is gonna kill UA! Americans like Virgin, don't they? They're gonna eat this up.

I've been looking for away to get to SFO to position myself for some MRs - maybe I'll give them a try too.

Unlike Independence Air, this one may really hurt UA in the long term...

Checking out the VX website I see that the standard Y seat has only 32" of pitch - ouch! Yo can pretty it up but 32" is still tight. Bulkhead of exit row seats are $25 more.

Please let this make UA lower their IAD-SFO prices.

I can't seem to get anything I need to price out!! It keeps saying no flights available.

Update - WAS-SFO route available after 9/26/07. Too bad I have to go to SFO on 9/14!

Phone says 9 minute wait and then dumps you in to voicemail.!

now I feel bad that I deleted an email I got this morn, as it said SFO/LAX-JFK was $139 coach and $389 Biz each way

Wish they went into EWR where CO has its fares up at close to $500 for these routes

The IAD-SFO $139 each way fare is through November only; it appears to to jump to $169 in December.
RT after that is ~$360 all in.

$360 from IAD-SFO isn't that bad. it's what, in the $500s right now? this could really make things interesting.

Wow! With introductory fares of $389 each way + taxes for JFK-LAX/SFO, I'm betting UA will be seeing some decline in ps yields, mostly in the C cabin.

I can't wait to give them a try!

awesome!!!!

This is totally great news!! Finally a choice out of SFO!

It will be of course devastating to UAL. They will have no choice. They either bring down their fares or lose much of their business. Either way, the UAL revenue loss will be massive.

I think I'll book their inaugural non-stop LAX-IAD flight to give them a try in October. Those transcon F fares are fantastic.

I wonder if F allows access to their Virgin lounge at JFK? Holy moly that'd be awesome if that were the case.
