Exclamation FAQ: Status match: looking for Starwood to match your Hyatt status?

How long will it take and what kind of documentation is needed.
Called them yesterday and was told to fax a short letter incl. membership card copy from Hyatt.

SPG doesn't do status matches for Hyatt Platinum to SPG Platinum. Only Hyatt Diamond to SPG Platinum.

Thank you.
The agent on the phone said otherwise. Called the plat hotline in the USA.
Will they do a match to Gold?

Not by policy, but YMMV.

For Hyatt, Plat is mid tier and Diamond top tier.
For SPG, Gold is mid tier and Platinum is top tier, same with Marriott.

I guess the agent was not aware of details of Hyatt and thought the top tier to top tier is Plat for Hyatt.

Hi!
I'm Hyatt Diamond at the moment.
Do you know if Starwood do a status match to an elite level of Preferred guest program?
How could I do?
Thanks a lot!

Yes they do. See below and substitute the word Marriott for Hyatt.
They will match your Hyatt Diamond Status to Starwood Platinum,
as long as you have proof of your Hyatt earned qualification and have not been Platinum with Starwood before.

From StarwoodLurker2:
"For Platinum status match requests, do fax it together with a copy of your Marriott account statement and membership card to 512-997-9046. Alternatively, you may email it to [email protected]."

Hyatt Diamond Status Matching By Starwood

I am currently a Hyatt Diamond member, and Starwood Gold. Does Starwood ever status-match other programs' levels (i.e. Hyatt Diamond to Starwood Platinum)? I would like to start yo move a lot of business to Starwood, but find it hard to give up the upgrades and other services that Diamond/Platinum level status offers (in my case Hyatt Diamond).

Thanks so much.

Don't take this the wrong way, but Hyatt matched my *wood Plat status a few months ago and I think *wood Gold still trumps. Park Hyatt Tokyo 'upgraded' me to a standard-sized corner room and gave me the standard 30% bonus pts.

Will SPG status match Hyatt?

Hello,

My friend recently recieved a Hyatt Diamond Card, despite never having stayed at a Hyatt. They status matched his SPG Platinum.

Will SPG do the same for me? I am only a Gold SPG member, but have Diamond status at Hyatt.

Thank you in advance.

I was successful in status matching at the end of 2008 (for all of 2009) from Hyatt Diamond to SPG Platinum. In the FAQ sticky, there is a quite helpful thread which discusses this very issue.

If you have never had SPG Platinum status before, Starwood will consider matching your Hyatt Diamond status. You'll need to provide a copy of your membership card and account activity. And it may take a month for them to verify the information you've provided and process the match. This is a one-time only opportunity, so make sure only to use it when you're prepared to move your stays over to Starwood.

Thank you for the responses.

I have sent a screenshot of the hyatt.com website with my details to the email provided, and they upgraded me to Platinum status in 4 days. Very nice.

I find Starwood's 30 days+ for a status match to be long and tedious. I know, they are doing you a favour, so one shouldn't complain but airlines and other hotel chains generally match within a few days, or at least in my experience.

Starwood took 45 days to get back to me, and I am a current gold member so then they came through I had already decided to pursue my stays with another chain.

May status match in the future.
