UA: SAN-PIT $164 a/i

I'm still a noob here so apologies if this doesn't quite qualify as a mileage run but this seems about the same cost as some of the other flights listed here.

About 3.7 cents/mile with same day turnaround - I figured I'd turn it over to the experts here to see if anyone could find a few extra segments for it.

Available on 08Dec, bookable on united.com. Farecompare shows the same fare on DL.

UPDATED: .bomb is not processing a buy/hold transaction; please confirm if you were able to ticket

Thanks - great find.
Not an expert either; tried routing via SFO+IAD, but it took the fare up to $255 a/i. The EQM's stays somewhat the same, around 3.7-3.8

Anyone has suggestions?

Those 500 booking bonus miles come as RDM, not EQM, and as such ought not affect the cpm. (Everyone comes away with the same amount of EQM for that $164, but some will come away with double the RDM of others flying on that same fare. So that "apples" can be compared to "apples," its more useful to talk about cents per EQM rather than cents per RDM.)

some people tend to look more for RDM than EQM on their MR's..like me, I have no chance of making 1K this year so EQM doesn't matter to me as much as RDM does.

If I consider which is, RDM or EQM, more applicable for general readers (non-FFP elites) here, I would choose EQM since not all people can earn such many RDM (and it varies, depends on elite level).

Sweet deal - thanks!

I have:

PIT-CLT-IAD-SAN-IAD-LGA-PIT; 9/6 10:30 am - 9/7 11 am; $205 AI (LRA21N10), 6506 miles

and

PIT-CLT-SAN-CLT-PIT; 10/30 7 am - 11:30 pm; $161 AI (LRA14ON7), 5154 miles

PIT-CLT-SAN-CLT-PIT; 12/4 3:30 pm - 12/5 9 am; $161 AI (LRA14ON7), 5154 miles

They all come out to about 3.2 cp(eq)m. They aren't the cheapest MRs in the world, but they fit in perfectly with my class schedule and my other travels. Additionally, The latter two itineraries are all on US metal, with is fine with me as a US GP.

(The same PIT-CLT-SAN itinerary booked on the US website is $212 ai - bleah.)

Well, I got it to price on 12/4 - 12/5 for 162.10 at 3PM as SAN-ORD-PIT-CLT-SAN. Went into a meeting and now that I'm back at my desk it's not available below $200+.

Work. I tell ya.

Exactly. Unless it is made explicitly clear that "cpm" is meant to refer to RDM, I think most of us will assume it is cents per EQM. Since EQM usually equates with BIS miles (except when travel is on a full fare ticket), one can easily enough figure out their own cost of RDM (GMs and 3Ps: cpEQM = cpRDM; 2Ps: cpEQM/1.25 = cpRDM; 1Ps and 1Ks: cpEQM/2.0 = cpRDM) before any non-elite bonuses.

As an addendum to my last post, I ended up putting 5 different intineraries on hold by around 5 pm ET. I just ticketed 2 of them (at 10 pm ET) with no problem, and cancelled the rest. Btw, a quick check of duplicates to some of my itineraries show that they are still fully bookable at the $160-$170 range. My plans are:

#1: PIT-CLT-IAD-SAN-IAD-LGA-PIT

9/18 PIT-CLT 12:00 PM - 01:31 PM (US metal)
9/18 CLT-IAD 02:22 PM - 04:00 PM
9/18 IAD-SAN 05:43 PM - 08:09 PM
9/18 SAN-IAD 10:15 PM - 05:53 AM
9/19 IAD-LGA 07:05 AM - 08:26 AM
9/19 LGA-PIT 09:25 AM - 11:00 AM (US metal)

$168.90, 6506 miles (2.6 cpm), LRA14ON7

#2: PIT-CLT-SAN-CLT-PIT (all US metal)

10/30 PIT-CLT 07:00 AM - 08:33 AM
10/30 CLT-SAN 09:50 AM - 12:04 PM
10/30 SAN-CLT 01:05 PM - 08:33 PM
10/30 CLT-PIT 10:10 PM - 11:34 PM

$160.60, 5154 miles (3.1 cpm), LRA14ON7

TOTAL: $329.50, 11,660 miles, 2.8 cpm (all based on EQM, not RDM; since I'm GP on US, which is where I'm crediting these, my RDM is 1.87 cpm...as noted above YMMV).

Thanks again, IggySD. This is exactly what I have been looking for, as it gives me the status jump I need at near-standard cpm parity without unduly disrupting my life. I'll have enough time at each transfer to download all of my e-mails, and can therefore get a lot of work done in an atmosphere that I personally enjoy.
