EVA Air AA code-share flight booked on AA.com (consolidated)

Hi all -

I have a reservation on hold for BOS-LAX-TPE-LAX-BOS in full fare economy (B). Does anyone know if I will get an Evergreen Deluxe seat or standard Economy seat on the Eva (AA code-share) flights?.

I did a search of previous threads and found conflicting information.

Thanks for your help!

B is not full fare economy so I'm pretty sure you'd get stuck in the back. Why not just book the BR flight numbers in ED and credit to CO?

I thought Y and B were both considered full fare economy class codes. It's listed as full fare on aa.com:

http://www.aa.com/apps/AAdvantage/Vi...artnersContent

Is there an operational difference btw Y & B (upgrade priority, etc.)

Is it an AA fare or a BR (EVA) fare?

If the "B" fare is an AA fare, it would be quite expensive (~$2K-$3K?). At that price, I ask if you value the comfort or the miles. For about $2.5K-$3K you can buy BR business class (they call it Super Business) .....it's nothing super except for the name. But no AA miles at all since it is a BR ticket.

However, business IS business and still better than economy. BR is not going to care if you bought a full fare E C O N O M Y ticket from AA that's $3K.....economy is economy, and that's what you paid for, albiet very expensively.

My advice is to find a TA and price out a decent EVA fare and take business. Fares to TPE from LAX ans SFO is consistently around $2K....

I respectfully disagree with your advice. BR's sweet spot is ED, which is quite a value for around $800 rt from LAX or SFO. It's business class, on the other hand, as you noted, is most unimpressive. If you're going to fork out for business (and TPE is a good market in which to sample J at reasonable prices), why not fly an airline with a better product (SQ, MH, even CI) that matches fares?

You are absolutely right. I thought the OP was keen on BR (and BTW, some people are REALLY die hard fans), otherwise the OP would have chosen AA/CX combo. Anyway, it seems most comepting airlines have similar fares to TPE from the west coast.....but until recently the identical fares have disappeared, with BR lowballing everyone else by at least $500......

Anyway, for TPE I usually don't mind a stop in HKG or taking AA to NRT then CX to TPE......

Thanks for all the responses.

The itinerary I have on hold has all AA flight number and all flights are in fare basis code B. I thought it was relatively cheap at $1409 (with only one stop-over). The cheapest Business class fare (searching all airlines), with one stop, is $3600.

I actually checked the reservation again and the seats on the Eva flights were assigned. According the seat maps on Eva's website, they were assigned in the Evergreen Deluxe cabin.

Question answered.

Earning AA miles on EVA

From the postings here I know you can earn AA miles from the codeshare flights AA has with EVA.

What I don't understand is - if I am buying a ticket via a consolidator on Eva - how do I earn the miles? Do I request the AA codeshare? Will this then still give me the good ticket price? In case it matters I'd be flying their Evergreen Deluxe service kinda like premium economy. Thanks

I'm not sure what your good price on Eva is, but when my honey flew to Taipei on Eva last year, the AA ticket price was almost twice the cost of the ticket if booked through Eva's own system. As he was traveling on the office's dime on that trip, he had to forgo the AA miles (total bummer on such a long trip) and take CO miles instead. With Eva/AA, your ticket must show an AA flight number to earn the miles, or at least such was the case a year ago.

Unfortunately, you can only earn miles on EVA by booking the AA codeshare. You can definitely request the AA codeshare with your TA, but in my experience, the AA codeshare is much more expensive than buying the BR-coded flight.

The AA codeshare is approx $500 or more expensive than EVA's price..I just tried to buy it...Also, TA cannot get you the codeshare...it must go thru AA...

And what I just learned in speaking with AA is they are given an allotment of seats only in Y, J and F for each Eva flight ....here I thought you could access the full inventory and sadly they cannot book AA codeshare using Evergreen Deluxe class..... so this really bites in my book. So much for the code share. And there was no availability any day to TPE out of SEA for June using the codeshare.

With the double miles promo I don't want to forgoe any extra mileage

I had this same problem with QF. If I booked a QF ticket in Y it was the same price than booking J through EVA. However I would only get the points if I booked with a QF flight No. RIP OFF

Despite what the rules state, as a last resort I would try sending my used boarding passes to AA and politely request credit.

AA is not stupid and this would be denied.
