New DL Service Charge as of 13DEC

As of today, plastic bags (the ones for car seats or for back packs) will now cost $3.

Discuss.

Hope TSA doesn't catch wind of this and start charging $1 for the zip lock baggies they hand out to people who can't be bothered to follow the liquid rules.

Since we all hate people who fly with small children, and I'm personally annoyed by the backpack-across-Europe-but-mostly-stay-in-Holland-and-smoke-pot-with-other-loud-Anglophones type, I say bring on the surcharges.

Some more welcome charges:

Double fare for anyone whose girth crosses under and/or over the armrest.

Mandatory $25 sticks of deodorant for those who obviously require it (flights connecting through CDG in the summer should make a killing on this one).

$10 service charge (the same one for not booking online) for those who can't operate the kiosk (obviously N/A when the kiosk is broken-- ok, so not a big source of revenue).

$5 or one drink voucher per use of the lav before reaching 10K feet.

$25 for gate-checking a bag that never met the carry-on size in the first place.

Plastic bag on backpacks? Is that mandatory? I've never had my backpack plastic bagged.

Jazzop's Surcharge GREAT Ideas

Jazzop you forgot $50 surcharge for crying babies and for each
child under 18.

and I'm personally annoyed by the backpack-across-Europe- ...(crowd)...

alot of these "back-packs" should NEVER be allowed on board as
carry-ons. Maybe $75.00 Surcharge on Domestic flights and
$200.00 Surcharge on International flights will discourage these
riff-raff....

Some more welcome charges:

Double fare for anyone whose girth crosses under and/or over the armrest.

Let's make it Double Full-Fare Surcharge (No Discount No Awards) in Coach
and TRIPLE Full-Fare Surcharge (No Discount No Awards No Upgrades) in Business or FC!

Mandatory $25 sticks of deodorant for those who obviously require it (flights connecting through CDG in the summer should make a killing on this one).

Hmmm... CDG is not the only place it's NEEDED.

On the same subject. Better eliminate those $25.00 Day-pass CRC passes !
(especially in the Spring & Summer months)

$10 service charge (the same one for not booking online) for those who can't operate the kiosk (obviously N/A when the kiosk is broken-- ok, so not a big source of revenue).

DL needs the money. Make that $25 each person needing to be shown .

$5 or one drink voucher per use of the lav before reaching 10K feet.

Make it $20.00 a pop on that idea, Mr. Jazzop

$25 for gate-checking a bag that never met the carry-on size in the first place.

let's no be cheapo. Make it a $100.00 each bag fine!

And most important $100.00 fine for anyone trying to purloin
someone else's confirmed seat assignment.

This sucks as I'm traveling next week and was planning on using at least three of these to gate check items for my kids.

Delta really is beginning to stick it to people.

You should be fine. I think these bags are only at the ticket counters. I've sure never seen them at the gates.

What if you just refuse and tell them "No, thanks. You can just check my car seat without putting it in the bag."?? Will they do it? That would be fine with me.

If they just did not use that super sticky adhesive on the bags, they could easily make these bags reusable. At the very least, their baggage counter should offer to recycle (I have asked before and they had no means to do so).

Then again, maybe those of us who need to check car seats every now and then could just keep our bags from the last trip and recycle them ourselves on our next flight.

Delta is probably tired of crap falling out of the car seat and having to clean up the mess, or having the padding fall off and trying to figure which car seat it belongs to as well as dealing with the complaints. Similarly with packs and lose straps that tend to catch on things and clog up the conveyer systems which then leads to melt downs when no one's bags make to the plane on time. Then there are multiple complaints.

Oh yeah - just got back from Europe with my pack. Though just slightly larger than the size wise it fit in the overhead bin just fine - never checked it. And overall still smaller than the *&!$ roll-a-boards and oversized "computer" bags that most people schlep.
