The Traveler IQ Challenge

Oh, sure — you are currently in the TravelBuzz! forum, so you must really know your geography...

...right?!?

Test your travel knowledge here. If nothing else, you will certainly be better acquainted with the geography around the world and may even find some destinations to where you would eventually like to visit.

I'm embarrassed to say I didn't make the first cut. 11,557 points, Traveler IQ 75.

Damn... ended up with 196,400... but wasn't allowed to level 7 because I ONLY scored 29335 at level 6...

You must score 30000 to advance!

Couldn't they have "comped" me the other 665????? (Hey, this IS FT!!)

Got 80 km from the Waterloo site.... missed one or two African/Central American places by just a little...... (like 1500 km! )

I can't do better than 390K to 410K, so I can't get past level 10. I've been doing this for about a week off an on. Map is just too small - I know where stuff is (except Africa which I'm admittedly not as good at) but I can't even see places like Funchal, can barely see Andorra or Brunei, so it's difficult to actually click on the right spot!

Give me a larger scale map and I'm sure we'd all score much better!

226,000, level 7. Good thing my holiday break is coming up in a week, I know I'll be trying this again.

Agree with the previous poster, I might be a wee bit better if the map weren't quite so 'wee'...

Thanks for the link. Now I'll never get any work done!

I wish the map were a little bigger, though.

Hi,

Thanks for the link.

Level 11

IQ 123

Points 123

I got 54,600 on level 11 and needed 55,000 to advance.

Main areas of weakness; some of central africa, the more obscure former soviet republics and some of the pacific islands ( one of them it said i was 4000 km out but the distance between markers only looked like 1500 km out

Again the map could be a bit bigger.

Regards

Hi,

Made it to level 12.

Once there you need 60,000 points to advance ( I got 54500) and 15 questions ( so an average of 4000 points per question needed)

Total points 548,659
IQ 130.

quite a few cities in Russia and India ( ie Rajkot)

Regards

I think I'm the high-scorer so far, although I wished I had never picked up the WSJ in my driveway yesterday and seen the article! After about a half-dozen tries, I'm up to:

Points: 559,431
Level: 12
Traveler IQ: 132

(Screenshot cheerfully provided on request!)

Once you get to level 12, it gets really hard with lots of places in India and Russia and Africa that I had to guess at.

Level 6
IQ 94

My knowledge of China and Brazil was pretty bad.

Managed to get within 70km of Gettysburg and 20km of Battle of Hastings which I thought was pretty good given the size of the map
