UK Centurion Upgrade? Revitalisation in progress...

I'm sure I'm one of many who have over the last 2 years called CSR to see if the poor relations in the UK are going to get any new benefits to offset the reductions over time. Just got off the phone where they did confirm a 'revitalisation' of Cent is underway for this year but nothing can be confirmed as yet.
Annual renewal comes up end of Jan so it looks like fingers crossed and hope something good comes up - (airline status???) and I get a few more months at current pricing because I'm sure the fee will raise if there's anything worthwhile.

Interested if anyone gets any news

They said the same last year.. have to wait and see I guess, but its well overdue.

I guess the days of the 650 fee maybe over though..

Gold or Silver BA would be perfect! even if highly unlikely

Since U.S. Centurion members get VS Gold, I would think it should make sense to extend this to UK Centurion cardholders.

I think that way more people would actually use the benefit were it given to the UK members, making it potentially less appealing for VS to sell it at a discount to AmEx. Right now it may drive a bit of incremental revenue to VS but not so much as to dilute the benefits of those who earned the status. Adding the benefit to the local crowd might do so. Or VS may be charging more for the status for the UK members, making it cost-prohibitive for AmEx. Lots of reasons the benefits are not 100% consistent across the countries.

Not sure actually. UK Centurion has been closed for a couple of years so probably whatever small no of cardholders there were have reduced. And these are precisely the sort of PAX that an airline like Virgin would love to entice into their lounges. I mean, how many Cent's book economy tickets anyway?? What is the true cost to the airline of granting this small group of afluants Gold status in their program??

If I were a CEO of an airline I would be banging on Amex's door asking to partner up!

German Cent re-launch keeps getting postponed again and again. Actually probably a good thing as the new benefits will unlikely justify a fee hike.

They recently surveyed me and proposed fee hikes up to € 8.000 per year with additional benefits such as valet car parking at German airports and Golf hole-in-one insurance. I think someone at AMEX Germany needs to go for drug testing immediately.

No mention of airline status - not that I would need it anyway. I also doubt many Cent cardholders need airline or hotel status anyway, as they will have it anyway ...

Question Revitalisation scheduled for June?

Just been told that it is scheduled for June but they were not yet allowed to go through the benefits...which made me come to the conclusion that they were aware of the new benefits, i.e. it has been finalised....hmmm

centuk where did you hear that the relaunch was to be in June 08. I just got off the phone from cent and they advised that there was no date as of yet!!!

They gave the usual response of it is due to happen and in the pipeline...no indication of new benefits either!

Well fingers crossed and see what happens i guess, p.s. my renewal date is May so i am very keen to find out if anyone knows?

Bit of querying with them actually. Just pressed them a bit by saying I heard it was Q1 this year. He replied with its scheduled for a bit later. He said it was probably May/June time. I said May? to which he replied, more likely in June...On another call was told its scheduled for the middle of the year. My card is due for renewal in August...

Thanks for the reply centuk...

i just called them again, i told them that i had heard it was to be relaunched in May/June, again i was given the standard reply 'can't confirm any dates...but a relaunch is in the pipeline for this year!' I don't know about you guys but haven't we been hearing this for about two years now! Rant over

I seem a bit obsessed by this, I am really keen to find out new benefits as mentioned before my renewal date is May

It doesn't really suprise me....i always get different answers whenever i call a cent CSR!
