A complete U-turn, and start over? Not a stop for gas?

The crew will be maxed out, will need a new pilots. Is BJS 3 or 4 pilots? I think 4 if over 12 hours.

1083 miles, almost exactly the same as EWR-MIA (1086). Figure ~2.5-3 hours fly time including climb out and landing.

Looks like they are estimating 2 hours for the return trip... Labrador is only an hour ahead of Eastern time, unlike the island which is 1.5 hours ahead.

Overall appears like 10+ hours delay... ouch...

There is no indication that the flight actually landed at YYR. Not on flightaware.com, not on flightstats.com.

And there's no rescheduling of the flight. And the return flight, CO88 for 2/24, is simply cancelled.

I got the info now.

It was a medical emergency.
It happened approximately after 5 hours and it took them 1 more hour to call Medlink and finally decided to come back to EWR.

That was the story.

I just landed from flight 89 (well, and waited for all the lines to get to the hotel). We flew all the way to just a hair before the North pole, and diverted to Goose bay for a medical emergency, gave her oxygen and had her lie down in BusinessFirst, then after a couple of hours she was feeling better (but there wasn't enough fuel to turn around again), so they decided to fly all the way back to Newark, and cancel the flight.

12.5 Hours flying time for 0 miles, a hotel room for half a night, and breakfast and lunch coupons, and if you count the first leg, I'm farther away than when I started. It would only have been 14 hours to go all the way [Not a blame - crew had to decide based on what they knew at the time]... But still a new personal worst.

Plus - this was on top of me not making flight 89 on the 22nd due to the Snowstorm, and not being able to be fit into anything early than the now cancelled flight 89. Currently, I am scheduled to try flight 89 for the 3rd day in a row on the 24th.... Will miss at least 1.5 days of 4.5 days worth of meetings...

So far - MHT-EWR 22nd, 6:40am, boarded, then cancelled.
EWR-PEK 22nd - missed connection, couldn't get rebooked until the 23rd from BOS.
23rd am, Extra hour to drive to BOS.
BOS-EWR 23rd, 8am, delayed to 10am due to crew rest
EWR-PEK 23rd, 89, Medical, diverted to goose bay, then rediverted back to Newark
EWR-PEK 24th, 89 - lets try again, except now on a completely full flight.

Argh and apologies for spelling/grammer, very tired....

Did they charge her for the BF Seat? Isn't there already a thread about sneaking into BF??

Are they going to give you EQMs for your partial trip on 2/23? It seems fair! ^

Nothing for you to apologize for. Thanks very much for letting us know what happened. Wish you can get to PEK soon.

Was on same nightmare flight. I'm going out today, swing by seat 24F and say hi if you want.

BTW, what was the deal with the lady being handcuffed in the jetway?
