2/24/2008 - UA930 SFO-LHR Divert to ORD

UA930 going from SFO-LHR diverted to ORD this afternoon, and will arrive at 7:05 according to .bomb. It says schedule change due to Air Traffic control. My dad is on the flight, so I'll have more news for you as soon as I hear from my family.

[EDIT: Wrong time]

Actually, it appears that UA 930 is (at 6:41pm CT) descending into ORD with an ETA of 7:05pm. It has a revised take-off time of 8:00pm CT.

So, here's what I got from my dad:

A warning light in the cockpit went off saying that there was a water system leak in the plane, and the pilots decided to divert to ORD when they were over Montana/North Dakota to make sure that it wouldn't cause bigger problems later in the trip.

Right now, United hopes to move all the baggage and passengers in less then 45 minutes, and they're trying to get the plane off by 9 PM Chicago time. Apparently, they'll only get in 2 hours late, which isn't all that bad.

Key word: "hopes."

Must be using one of the 744s that overnight at ORD and serve HKG/PVG/PEK the following day.

Yeah, it sounds like they aren't off the ground yet. I don't know if they'll go to a 747, they were on a 777 for the first flight, and .bomb lists a 77 for the 2nd flight.
...but then again, its .bomb.

unitedcargo doesn't have a time listed yet either and it is also showing it is a 777.

I was on 945 today that diverted to KEF due to a medical emergency, got to hear the whole thing play out on channel 9. Great job by the crew.
