Trip Report - Abu Dhabi - Muscat runs plus everything inbetween

Guys,

Just got back from doing a few Abu Dhabi - Muscat runs on BA, and have published a trip report here: Schofs' Travels - It's a long long way to Abu Dhabi

Also includes details of travelling out there on BA & Lufthansa.

Enjoy,
Schofs

Nice report. I'm surprised LH couldn't drive you to the FCT at FRA.

I'm curious why you cleared immigration in MCT each turnaround. When I did the turn a year and a half ago it was possible and easy to check in at the transfer desk.

I like the champagne rate per hour

Lovely report, and I'm positively jealous of your champagne statistics.

Great report there Schofs!

Really enjoyed reading it! All these reports on tier point run's in the middle east make me seriously think about trading in my AA card and start going for BA Gold. Looks like you had a great time out there.

I totally agree about how nice it is to have a car waiting for you when you land at FRA. I flew LHR-FRA-YYZ on LH in Oct 05 and when i arrived in FRA at a remote stand i had a car waiting for me and man holding a sign with my name on it! Really made for a fantastic ground experience! It really is good.

One other OT point. You say you work in St Pauls? What area out of curiosity? My step dad works in Paternoster Square just opposite St Pauls and i know the area pretty well.

Cheers,

Chris

Nice report! And I liked the one about Bahrain as well. I will be there in April for a QF mileage run but unfortunately only for one night.

Thanks We were too, and she seemed surprised that I'd want to... we were just left at the edge of the terminal and we had to ask where we were meant to go... if that had been my in laws (who I'd like to try LH F) they'd have been stood there wondering what was going on....

We'd booked a single AUH-MCT and then MCT-AUH-MCT returns. As such we didn't have boarding passes, and while I thought we could probably get boarding passes at the transfer desk, I've had probs in the past in the UK and didn't want to be turned away only to be at the back of a VERY long Visa and Immigration line!

Thanks - it was also a bit of a way of keeping track of how much we were abusing our livers!

Thanks - it was fantastic fun, especially as I can convince myself that I need to do it for status, it's not all about having fun!

I gave AA a try actually and got to Plat on a challenge, then did a load of flights out there. I thought that in some ways the AAdvantage programme was better in terms of perks and advantages to the owners, but I found other things niggled me, such as not being able to do 1-way award redemptions. I guess it's just whatever scheme suits

I'm in the BT building opposite St. Paul's tube, and yes, very close to Paternoster Square where I spend most lunch times!

Keep 'em coming, schofs. I accidentally printed your 'page' - well; 93 pages...
