Hilton blocking FlyerTalk??

I have been traveling this past week and stayed at several Hilton family hotels. I was not able to access FlyerTalk at any of the hotels when using their internet service, but any other websites I tried to access came up just fine. Just now, at HGI-LAX, the same problem occurred. Out of curiosity and disbelief that FT has been down all this time, I started up my VPN and then tried to access FlyerTalk. It came right up and I am writing this post through VPN. Is Hilton mad at FlyerTalk and blocking it??

I also could not get to FT from the Doubletree in Mission Valley, CA. I was able to get their via my Wireless broadband, but not either wirelessly or wired through the hotel.

Speaking of three Hilton properties in northern California in the last few days, no problem.

Certain GM's are lurking and seeing property-related comments...not unheard of in the hotel biz.

I think that's a good thing - but blocking FT from a property won't do any good, and may cause some harm (in bad will) IMO.

You're absolutely right - it's a short-sighted move, if that is indeed what's happening. Years ago, certain of the Atlantic City casinos used to have phone books in the rooms with the "Hotels" section of the yellow pages systematically torn out.

perhaps it's to keep the staff off during working hours.

Posting this from London Metropole Hilton, took a while for me to get the internet working and not really enjoying my stay here, but at least FT works.

I'd think it might be a filter that just happens to catch FT.

OP could it be your computer? Not a Systems Admin., but have you tried to clear you cookie or cache and see if that clears up the problem?

Does anyone know if Hilton brands worldwide use the same internet provider? I highly doubt it.

I've never been to a hilton brand the blocked FlyerTalk.

I was able to get here from Orem UT but was blocked at the Embassy Suites in San Jose, I just figured Flyer Talk was done for 3 days.

It is working today however.

Isp & Ft

What's the error when you can't get on?

Some places I've been (non-hilton related) do not bring up the FT page (any of them), but do not say it's blocked, rather it can't find the IP address - which makes me think there's some issue with the specific ISP & FT.
