1KMM and 1K both waitlisted for an upgrade with same booking class, who will get it?

1KMM and 1K both waitlisted for an upgrade with same booking class, who will get it?
If 2 passengers (1K and 1K million miles) have exactly the same itinerary and same booking class under 2 seperate confirmation numbers, and they both use the same instrument (systemwide upgrade cert) to apply for an upgrade, does 1KMM has priority over IK?

I happened once I (1KMM) and my staff (1K) were both waitlisted for upgrade, his upgrade was cleared 2 days before departure and mine didn't get cleared until the last 30 minutes at the gate. He requested the upgrade online 10 days before departure and I also did it online but 3 days later than him, so I wonder if 1KMM and 1K are no difference and it is only a matter of timing (if booing classes are the same).

Thanks for any advice.

I'm pretty sure the difference was the 10 vs 7 days before the departure that made the difference as you were both on PA list.

If you are both on the PA waitlist, it would be the one who requested the upgrade earlier.

If it clears on the DM list, then it would be based on check-in time. There is no extra priority given to 1K MM over 1Ks on the waitlist.

IIRC prior to your 100 hour 1k window all upgrades clear first in-first upgraded, so that would explain why he got it before you did.

Can GS do this for their family and friends too?

Yes, it can happen. It used to be a perk that 1K's could get, but with the advent of GS, that went the way of the dodo.
