Are the cancellations to free up aircraft for DXB and DME? Or is this more capacity reduction?

Do you mean daily? Or are they really going to a 1x weekly service? If the latter, what's the point?
In regards to SFO-TPE going SFO-NRT-TPE, is the slot from the axed ORD-NRT flight going to serve NRT-TPE? If so, how do they accommodate the earlier arrival of TPE-NRT than ORD-NRT? Are they going to shuffle around the timing of other NRT flights?
I believe SFO-NGO was supported by a corporate contract, so I'm guessing that's a goner now.
SFO-KIX is being upgauged to add lift to the Kansai region, but don't forget TG is re-entering the KIX-LAX market. This will likely capture some of the previous NGO-SFO and KIX-SFO traffic, so hopefully these two flights can coexist.
Surprised SFO-ICN wasn't mentioned, since this route has been on-again, off-again even in the good times. With OZ serving LAX/SFO/SEA 24x weekly, and SQ's superior offering on SFO-ICN, UA's own nonstop and NRT flight is a lot of lift into a market.
One last thought - if all of these are cut, do you think LAX-LHR might finally get axed too? Maybe, oh just maybe, UA will throw its code on NZ 1/2 instead? What about SFO-GUM or SFO-PPT as a potential use of an aircraft in the coming months?

Interesting. After the 'Capital-to-Capital Connection' campaign that unexpectedly led to UA winning the IAD-PEK route authority, the DOT mentioned in their award that UA's 744 on the route was a factor in their decision since it would result in more capacity than the original favorite, CO's EWR-PEK submission on a 777.
